This is a budget thing. If you are doing okay slip wifey over to US and spend a week in New York and a week in Washington. It will spin her out and chicks love Washington because this overwhelming sense of being in the seat of power makes them 'affectionate'.
If you are a tight arse rent a caravan and fill it full of piss and food and head to a secluded beach. You can camp on the beach front at several locations on YP for nix.
People who bought this book also bought a stool and some rope. Unknown literary critic

How did you guys buy stuff at Cook Islands?
Can you use a debit card?
Never been overseas so not sure how it works.

Homer Simpson: Awww ... 20 dollars!? I wanted a peanut.
Homer's brain: 20 dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer Simpson: Explain how.
Homer's brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
Homer Simpson: Woo hoo!

Port Macquarie/Taree/Coffs Harbour is a great location for a value-for-money honeymoon. Awesome beaches, untold river frontage where you can ski, non-invasive small motels where you can hide away and classy restaurants in the vicinity.
Better weather than the Gold Coast - just as warm but less humidity. Otherwise go to Wilpena Pound and hike the Flinders during the day and just chill out at night. Beautiful really.
Caution! You are now entering the no-spin zone...
