I feel that our lack of ability to kick a football properly and unwillingness to man-up was what cost us the game today.

Damon white was very good picking out Kenny Mac about 10 metres out from the eagles goal all by himself in the eagles 50 .

That was a shocking clanger wasn't it, even down the other end we could see how bad that one was.

What a game we had today .North played the same style of FLOODING that they used in the trial game at Norwood against us .
And myself and other Eagles fans were getting frustrated by our teams lack of being able to counter this tactic .
But counter that Ron did by moving Kenny to FF.What a quarter of footy he played with the added help of Damon White for one of thsoe 6 goals .
So the first time since 07 the mighty eagle beat the rooster.
Doesnt matter how much you win by guys as long as you win .

It has been our problem for years, our runners and forwards will run their asses off when we have the ball but frequently don't do the same when the opposition has the ball.

Well no offence but Kenny Mac played FF for the SA teal cup team .And was turned into a backman at West Lakes .

Nice shot, that's great support for him from his team mates.

I must admit in reflection Ron Fuller has done it again even though they did have a few AFL players in today, I (correctly) wrote the Eagles off for last year and thought they'd continue their downward run this year, their side didn't impress me on paper especially losing Skipworth when they expected him and not doing a lot of high quality recruiting.
Certainly not up there with Norwood or Glenelg (Central goes without saying) but at the minute they're clearly the 2nd best side in the comp.
Still a long way to go but very impressed with their efforts to this stage, shows a lot of character and shows that Ron Fuller is doing a great job getting the best out of what he's got.
Where's that Eagles supporter that normally cans Ron and his club at every opportunity, I don't think Ive seen him online for a while.

Whilst eating humble pie I was proven wrong when it comes to Sunday games today, great crowd, if North v Eagles get more to a game on a Sunday than North v Central or North v Port at the same venue then its the way to go I hate to say.

Yep, more did come and had left by that stage. I only thought 'hey this would be a good shot' when the numbers were starting to dwindle!

Spot on Wedgie, the character they are showing is the most pleasing thing, especially a few of the lesser-known names. Definitely not as good as others on paper, but then some of these lads should only get better the more they play.

Sounds like Sloane struggled for North today. He'll be a quality contributor for the Roosters though, might just need a little time to find his feet after the injury.

A staggering selection in my opinion.How about earning a jumper ...non contributor but still better than Clarke

At the moment, the Eagles are playing a very team orientated game with many contributors each week. The spirit amongst the players is tremendous and a lot of pressure is being put on the league 21 by the Reserves. I was concerned with our ability to break North's zone though in the second quarter. In the third quarter we got our hands to the ball first in the square and this negated North's zone as they hardly got a chance to use it. I expect Shirley and Knights to go to the Crows this week. Maybe Corbett and Geddes in.

his game today reminded me of a seconds winning grand final he played the year before he was drafted .....

he was switched into the ruck and turned the game like today....

McKenzie must be polling some Magarey votes.....

Shirley was tough , Knights is just a ball magnet and Jacky is continuing on with his good form....

Jarrod Allmond...still hasn't been beaten...this kid just runs all day.....the AFL recruiters must be licking their lips......

Paul Stewart must be getting close to an AFL game too based on his past games providing plenty of drive from the backlines.....

McIntyre for the first few and then Davis went back to him. He did take one pack mark over the whole North team at one stage though - no one could stop him...

I think that was the last goal, there were about 5 in the pack and he took the definitive contested mark. That was the goal which lead to the photo NFC posted above. There was another goal, where he took a mark and then gave I think Cica a high five. I thought, gee, that's a bit early to do that, wait until you've got the goal!

Eagles awesome in one quarter and Kenny was fantastic, Id be interested if anyone at the ground knows why the Eagles got a free kick at the edge of the goalsquare after kicking a point (7 pt play) and also their opinion on that free kick against Clarke for holding the ball when he was tackled around the neck (and the decision took .2 of a second), both resulting in goals and both by Tony Dey as I was 25 metres away from both as were some Eagles supporters and noone knew why either was paid in the last quarter.
Genuinely curious as Im always keen to learn new things.

Why didn't you approach the umpires out in the car park after the match and ask them???

Mr Tony Dey has been in question a couple of times this year, IMHO he is not up to league standard umpiring and perhaps should go back to the Under 7s to learn the rules, however his decisions today did not have any affect on the result, however i have seen him umpire in 3 games this year and i walk away every time shaking my head in disbelief

I thought Tim Pfeiffer was equally woeful today - every time he blew his whistle today it seemed to be to pay yet another free against the Eagles. In fact he was so bad it even had me wishing we had Richard umpiring more games and I wasn't afraid to say so to Tim after the game.
