Pleasant viewing on the treadmill this morning.

Windies fighting back here after being 6/11.

Watching this pitch this morning, Cam Greens 40 odd last night looks like double century now.

Honestly last night you couldn't play forward as the ball was leaping up at you and if you played back you were just as rooted with either extreme bounce or none of it.

Then add the very average lights and I'm surprised we made so many in the end.

Borland gets a hatrick.

9/29 and the record for lowest score in a test innings by the Windies of 47 looks set to be broken

Yeah, definitely some issues there. Sheild cricket will be so important before our test summer. We simply need to find 2 new openers.

It's a simply equation for some players like Renshaw, make runs in the shield and there could be a spot for you.

Cam Green at 3?, I started to warm to it as his last few innings on that pitch were pretty good. Not sure how that will go against better teams but that was in difficult conditions.

I don't think so, they will use the poor batting conditions as a cover up, lets face it, it was pretty tough going out there. To their credit they hung about in the first for some time against a fair tirade.

Usman will not be dropped, he will play every Ashes test and they will not have two inexperienced openers playing an Ashes test at the same time.

Weathers would be the only other one on the radar, they're probably due to trial Harris or Bancroft again but they would be redundant moves going forward IMO.

I'm not a fan of Konstas, I think he lacks the technique and patience required to be a test opener but he's young enough to work on them aspects.

I think Green has earnt his stripes during this tour, I didn't think he had it in him but he proved me wrong, persevere with him at 3 but moving him to 6 would be huge after what he just faced, he'd relish.

Usman
Carey
Green
Smith
Head
Inglis
Webster
Cummins
Starc
Gaz
Hazelwood

I wouldn't object to leaving Gaz out and bowling more of Webster and Head, at the expense of either Boland or McSweeney and giving us extra batting depth or a 4 pronged pace attack, would be nice to squeeze 6-10 overs out of Green by then to give us greater flexibility,

Plenty of opportunities for batters to put their hand up with 4 rounds of shield cricket before 1st Ashes test.
