Called it first. Huge accomplishment to both build the squad and pull it off.

Commiserations to Glenunga. Can only say that after getting so close from 2015-2018 that 2019 was all the sweeter

Rams were the shortest price favourite today for a long long time.
I cant remember the last Div 1 GF where a team has only lost one game and then lost the GF
I said during the week it would be a massive choke if the RAMS lose and they did but I really think Districts won more so than Glenunga losing.

Good shout, be interested to know the last side to go 17-1 or better in D1 in the regular season (and how it ended for them)

Glenunga have done well but they’re not a proper footy club. Hence the last two losses.

Good call, Shrek. These messages usually come from you after midnight, though.

Rams are humble in their loss. Grima has coached his last game at the Rams.

Districts all over Glenunga, 16 points up at lemon time

Been the better side for the game and should be probably further in front
It's been a scrapy game, Glenunga are unreal on transition, move the footy so quick while Districts have been very solid defensively. Lycett has had the better of West.

and on one leg too

Not quite a 17-1 record, but at Gaza in 06, I reckon we went 16-2 during the season and went out in straight sets.
In 2011, we went 17-1 and won the flag.

Goodwood I reckon went 18-0 during the 2014 season, lost the semi, but ended up winning the flag (this may need to be fact checked though).

Glenunga were spread out, some in members, some on the hill and then some behind the other goals

Dizzes - some in members, and filled the outer wing

I'm not sure about more Districts fans, but they were definitely far more vocal. Probably happens when your team is dominating the game, though!

Interesting observation by Shrek - I too feel is a club without a soul - great junior program that supports the mens program to enable imports but it is not translating itself into the ultimate success.....3 losing GFs in recent years suggests that 'buy in' is not there

a club without a soul? are you fair dinkum?

whoever those people are at that tremendous community of a sporting organization, the enormous efforts of every player, volunteer, staff and parent and whoever else have gotten them to be a Division 1 runner up in 2024, and whether if they finished bottom of division 7, they are proud sporting family. To come on a say they are soul less is a kane cornes shit show of comment and thats more just a reflection of you.

Well done glenunga you were the best club all year, but unfortunately couldnt get it done on the last day. Keep improving :)

Pretty easy to fire shots after the event. The great thing about the AdFL is the mix of clubs and club structures. How can a team that has made finals then 2 grand finals since coming up to D1 not have soul? Sounds more like the old Le Fevre Peninsula stereotype of "us against the rest".

Where was the Port District soul when they finished 5th to 7th for several years in a row prior to the 2022 flag. I'm sure many PD faithful would admit they underachieved across that period with the personnel they had. But it didn't mean the club lacked soul. You don't have to have your own oval and clubrooms (with little council oversight) to have soul. Does PAOC not have soul from playing in the Parklands and having a Pub as its social base?

Glenunga clearly has a few challenges with its Webb Oval set-up and how much say the Council get but in the last 3 seasons I've found them to be a club with plenty of soul on and off the field.
