Terrible news for Lauren, I wish her all the best with the rehab.

Booney wrote:UTILITY Lauren Young will miss the 2024 NAB AFLW season after suffering a serious knee injury playing in the SANFLW at the weekend.

Young came off in the first quarter of West Adelaide’s loss to Woodville-West Torrens on Friday and scans have since confirmed she has ruptured the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in her left knee.

The 2021 SANFLW MVP and Under 18 All-Australian suffered a similar injury to her right knee in late 2021.

“It’s really disappointing for Lauren and the team, knowing how much we all were looking forward to her first AFLW pre-season,” said Port Adelaide’s Head of AFLW Shane Grimm.

“Having experienced a similar injury a couple of years ago, Lauren knows about the hard work ahead of her, but she will approach her rehabilitation with a positive attitude and the support of everyone at the club.”

Young came through Port Adelaide’s Next Generation Academy and was signed late last year as part of the AFLW Expansion Under 18 Talent Pathway pre-signing period.

A real shame as she is a significant talent that everyone has been looking forward to seeing how she would go in the national comp.

Big challenge now to come back from a second significant knee injury at such a young age - from what I saw of the vision, just trying to make a turn without any contact.

one of the girls (now women) in our club suffered two reco's in two years and now is back playing SANFLW - hoping to get drafted this year. So, there is hope, however difficult mentally and physically it may be.

JASON Horne-Francis will be available for selection this week, while Ollie Wines has been sidelined.

Horne-Francis proved his fitness on Tuesday, with the 20-year-old completing full training after missing the last two games.

Midfielder Wines will sit out this Friday’s game against Essendon with a hamstring issue.

The 29-year-old felt soreness following Saturday night’s Round 3 match, with scans later showing a strain.

Booney's inability to consistently produce quality match reviews needs to come under greater scrutiny..

This is exactly what's wrong with the club - complacency. Happy to just produce when it suits and not regularly.

Lift Booney. Need more out of you.

If it’s the same utterance as previously from Alastair Clarkson then the world has officially gone mad.
