Bored....check out Phillippe catch for WA to dismiss Tim Ward first ball of the game.

I mean first or second slip probably could have taken it but its good to watch.

Lehmann been in good form luckily

Be up to Harry to save us again!!

In all seriousness - he's supposedly a "senior player", then why wouldn't he open to take some pressure off some of the younger players. Or is it he's too selfish to not want to face the new ball, thinking it's easier to come in later (although by the way we're going he'll be in soon anyway!!)? This is why the culture is so much on the nose at the Redbacks - too many selfish individuals and sh.t blokes who don't "play for the team".

Bit unfair on Nielson.

You could say the same about Carey. Has opened in ODI before so has experience, has often faced international test cricketers with a second new ball but is batting at 4.

Unless you're in the inner sanctum its hard to know what discussions have taken place.

Fair enough - then the finger must be pointed at the coach/selectors for these decisions

Trying to turn JFM into Warner not going to work.

Wonder if the Australian selectors had an input into him opening?

Not sure JFM was actually out though. It was a fairly loose drive at a ball from a guy who can swing it around corners but it appears the inside of his bat has clipped the top of the pad. Possibly could have nicked it as well but I reckon he was a tad unlucky. It's not an easy gig for top order shield batters in recent times. Juicy wickets and some pretty ordinary umpires going around.

I recon he hit it.

Bat isn't anywhere near the front pad - see freeze frame here: https://ibb.co/sCMhDXH

So unless he's clipped his back pad on the way through (which would be unusual, but not impossible), I recon the noise is bat on ball.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

AE - Your freeze frame shows his bat very close to the top flap of his back pad. That's what I was referring to. JFM clearly not happy with the decision however if you hit your pad with the bat you rarely feel or hear any edge so he could have done both.
