Amazed that he made it out of Footy Park alive that day.

It’s been a huge off season for Westies.
Recruited Searle, Wilson who will probably miss 3 quarters of the season and a bloke from Norwood who is injured too……

So 3 ins and about 12 outs for a club on a 5 year wooden spoon streak!

The record for SANFL consecutive wooden spoons is Sturt with 8 (1989–1996), so you're not far off

Thanks for raising that stat... triggered my PTSD  Don't want to throw in 1978 to finish me off :axe:

Is Des Foster still alive?

A Sturt-Norwood grand final is a distinct possibility this year, to my thinking.

If it happens they should get Des to toss the coin. 8)

I tried to get Gags a while ago to admit Foster faarked up, but he just laughed and said he was a great umpire.

It wasn’t a free, he paid a mark.

Will go down as one of the most fateful and worst decisions in history.

Dogs adding one more to the list today, officially announcing Kade Dittmar, a 188cm 20yo mid/defender who has clocked up 33 games with East Perth.
He is the son of ex Port player Mark Dittmar.

Could have paid a 15 m penalty based on Howard’s dissent which would’ve put him in the crowd….

In Foster’s defence it did go 10 yards pity we were metric by then…
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I didn't realise it was a mark
I thought a Sturt player tackled Gags without the footy
Lucky my 2 Glenelg mates on this site knew the decision , other posters might have ridiculed me !

If Sturt kicked straight ...

A lot of those behinds (minor scores) were from standing shots at goal, only a few were from kicks on the run under pressure. Sturt had an almost 5 goal lead at 3/4 quarter time despite kicking inaccurately. Surely Sturt have only themselves to blame for the 1978 GF loss.

Other comments were made about the 1978 GF so I decided to add to those comments.

This brings to total 9 recruits, with all but Kai Pudney from interstate.
A good haul, especially since just 3 of our Finals campaign side are not returning (Hoskin, Linke and Dahms)
This group is made up mostly of mids with pace as an attribute across the group.
Two tall but raw ruckmen are in the list; these are seen as longer term prospects and should benefit (along with Pickering) with coaching from Buckets McKenzie.

Not quite Glenelgs list but will be around the mark...

Agree. You would think it would have to be finals or bust for Thommo this year.

I would have thought finals will be a minimum expectation and top 3 a realistic aim..
Not sure Thommo would be under any sh!t or bust demands though..
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Don’t agree about our list. We’ve dropped back a bit by not getting close to replacing what we’ve lost, let alone actually improving our list like other clubs have. Disappointingly we’ve lost a few players that didn’t play in the league GF as well, hopefully a few of our reserves players can step up but some of those guys we lost are elite, depth won’t be as good either. Think we’ll be around 3-5 this season. Reminds me of 2020.
