Jockey claims he jumped really well then got spooked, lost 3-4 lengths then when got a run was hitting the line hard just had no where to go.

Trainer wasn’t overly concerned and was happy with the run.

Also cut his leg when in loading the barriers, they reckon had the vet seen it they would’ve scratched him at the barrier.

Disappointed, absolutely disheartened, definitely not.

Well things can change very quickly.

2 days after posting this we got the terrible news that we had to put down ‘Care Too Much’ on vets advise. Tore the tendon in his front leg.
It was actually really sad, it effected a little more than I thought it would, going out to the stables patting him etc a few times I guess you form a bit of a bond. Trainer had massive wraps on him, I guess we’ll never know how good he could’ve been.

We’ve got a first starter going around tomorrow, Race 4 #5 Prodigal Lad.

For me, it’s a big watch.

Again, trainer seems upbeat (but when aren’t they) could’ve raced at Gawler, Stath and Balaklava but choose a $50k race first up, I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Looks a bloody tough maiden race, 16 runners and we’ve drawn the Carpark (barrier 13) although the rails 13m out on the course proper I would suggest we would be looking for a bit of luck and Potter picking the right path, but again probably based on the tempo of the race.

Fingers crossed.

Bloody hell, that turned out badly! Sorry to hear mate, last run was so promising

All the best with the new horse.

Spot on, he'll be much better for the run. I was happy the way he hit the line, only beaten by 2.5 lengths.

Back at work and back on the punt. I have had a large-ish bet on Taree R7 1 Imatruestar. Back in class significantly from Saturday Highway grade, had a ******* shocker from the apprentice last start in a big field but before that was running good races in big fields. Due for some luck and a field of 9 in a midweek meet at Taree. Heavy track is a query but we get Koby Jennings aboard. I took $3.20 the place and boosted the win to $11. Has to run top 3 unless something goes amiss and should be winning considering its class and recent form. If you read the stewards comments last 5 starts it’s had issues finding clear air. Clearly there’s reasons why the stable has taken it from Randwick to Taree and that’s to collect a cheque. Should be jumping $4 in my opinion.

Well I can’t knock the ride. Winner had all the favours and we go down a half head. On at the overs. Nearly caught the bookies out but we live to fight another day.
