Anyone on here use any App's on course?

Just had a lesson (wednesday), and he asked why i don't use an App on course, I replied 'Why would i? i have my Watch and my rangefinder" he replies "Yes, but do either of them let you add stats etc, well, No they dont. He suggested i use Golf shot, used it for the first time yesterday and it's absolutely awesome for stats, You misses and more importantly where you missed, GIR, Fairways hit etc etc

Had an email within 2 minutes of my round finishing with a full breakdown of stats.

I will continue using this in practice rounds thats for sure.

Back in the day I used Swingu. And have started using it last couple months.
But that's mainly for scoring and the gps. And also show distances to hazards etc. You can upgrade for stats etc

For shot tracking I use the Shotscope. Haven't used it for a month or so. It's the version that has tags in top of clubs etc. But because I'm always switching clubs in and out dependant on selection night. So I'm about to attach the tags to something and hang off the golf bag. The unit that you tag it too also has gps and shows up distances to hazards etc

You get all sorts of stats
Distance is broken down into 3 parts
Performance distance, average distance and longest.
At end of each round you can edit the shots. For example you may need to use Dutchys 2iron out to bunt out of the rough 85m so you can mark that as a positional shot which doesn't get included in the stats etc. If you forget to tag you can edit in a shot. Add in any penalties etc

You can compare yourself to other handicap levels, Tour pro, 5, 10, 15, 20 etc

Up and down stats

Stats from lie/distance

Quite detailed.

Probably similar to arcoss but there's no ongoing subscription fees etc

Flaggy this morning

Selection table made a few ins and outs and they certainly might need some time in the corner of the shed thinking about their behaviour.
The driver is back, hit some nice baby draws that ran out a good way. Big difference when you can have confidence in the shot shape.
Greens were slippery.
Short game was poor.

Flaggy this morning.
Warm morning with a nice warm northerly nice and early.

The quick warm up in the nets was scary. It was shank central.
I even hit the divider between the 2 nets... if it wasn't shanks it was shocking pulls.
Got out of there for a chip and a putt and felt much better...

First tee with the memories of the warm up still fresh in mind just cautiously guided a drive down left hand side.
The confidence levels were fairly cautious all day.
However the putter was, for me, on fire.
Front 9 was 18 with a wipe on the 6th, tee shot ended up behind a tree...

Yesterday on 10th hit my drive onto 18th fairway and tried to cut through trees.
Today same shot off the tee, just no draw. 2nd shot, used the baffler straight down the 10th and was green high in 2... might be a new strategy.
Bunkers were quite firm so no issue getting out of them.
20pts back 9 with a measly 2 on the last holes...
38pts overall

Nice MT.

My Saturday was a game of two halves for me.

Very hung over after having a great idea to go to the pub for tea, that ended in not even eating at the pub but drinking what felt like 86 $6 base spirits watching the footy then singing at Karaoke, if i'm singing Karaoke you know im pissed.

21 points on the front 9 with 3 birdies. Only to finish with 33 points #-o back 9 i didn't actually do a lot wrong bladed a wedge on 10 over the back for a double, was dead behind a tree on 12, aimed at the 100m marker on 15 hit it and went sideways in the water, then on 16 i was literally 1cm in from the out of bounds fence, had to hit sideways with the exception of the wedge none of them were bad shots.

I do feel my game is slowly coming back, i'm actually happy with ow i'm hitting them, scores will come.

Sunday Glenelg 36 Hole "Jimmy Mac" cup, stroke off the blacks. One of about 4 days a year we use the real black tees so that was fun. Only just recovered, one of the toughest days I've had on the course. Worst I've played in ages which made it longer. Our blacks aren't that much longer than normal but makes a massive difference having different landing zones (when you do find a fairway) and playing 5 irons into greens instead of 7s. Pins were brutal, hadn't seen a few of them before. 92 with a 9 and a 90, got my moneys worth at least.

Hadn't really noticed recently but agree with MT, greens were really slow. Fairways finally starting to come back after a few weeks of sun which is good.

Apart from club champs what other comps like this do other clubs have?

Played an absolute cracker yesterday.

Stroke round finished 1 over.

Front 9- 1 Under, 2 Bogeys and 3 Birdies. One of the bogeys a really soft 3 putt on the par 3 4th, Tee shot was just on the front edge and i left the first putt 8ft short, weak as piss! #-o the other bogey put my second in the bunker on the par 4 9th and just didn't get my 3rd close enough.

Back 9- 2 Over with disappointing finish (Last 4 holes Double Bogey, Par, Bogey, Par) but over all really happy.

Of my 4 Birdies they were index 1,2,3 and 9 really happy with that.

As stated previously, that last lesson has helped me no end and it was 2 minor, real minor adjustments! Hitting the ball really well. My advise to anyone playing golf, regardless of your handicap go get a lesson you won't regret it.

Now i am looking forward to club champs......

Ducked in yesterday arvo and had a few hits with the 6hybrid. Hit it solidly and into the bag it went.
However today, it just kept duck hooking. Only useful for punching out from under trees.
Driver, well it was wayward today. Trusted the draw and hit straight blocks.
Short game was solid.
Putting was ok.

Shocking morning.
Still suffering from hayfever from yesterday.
Driver only used on a couple holes and was ok.
Off the tee I mixed it.up with driver, baffler and a 4i.
And mixed results...
The 4i has a tendency of flipping over and going left so opened up the face and hit a couple of real nice pure strikes. Unfortunately twice a tree got in the way
Short game disappeared, horrendous. And yet before the round the few little chips I had seemed ok contact wise.... out on the course it's thin central
Putting was poor.
Only highlight was a birdie on 13th

Now for some details.

9.45am tee off. 3 mates plus me.

1 bloke (Ryan) off 13; 1 bloke (Timmy) 3 times a year player; 1 bloke (Big Johnny) not played since before Covid - he was only in for 9 though, he had to work in the arvo.

We play the first 3 holes just to get a feel for things. Then on the 4th, decide to play skins.

The skins categories: - NTP on Par 3's (must be on the green); Longest drives (on the fairway in play) on about 6 designated holes, Greens in Reg; Sandis (up & down out of a bunker) and Chipping or putting in from off the green. A round of beers waiting on the tee, confirms the categories!

The front 9 was awfully slow - public holiday and all. over 2.5 hours for the 9. By now it was getting pretty warm too.

Sadly for Timmy his best hole of the day - Smashed a drive & made par, was on the first hole, before the skins were agreed on. We later conceeded them in the pub!

Ryan, ended up with 10 skins for the day...... and after saying he does not hit driver all that well, proceeds to smash them there after. Good ball striker, chipping & putting lets him down. Good swing, gets them out there.

Think I ended up with 8 skins, made up of 1 NTP, 1 Long Drive, 3 Pars, 2 GIR's & a sand save. Went out in 47, came home in 53 (or in an ambulance) for a Bradman!

Raced around the back in well under 2 hours - probably a bit over 1.5 hours actually.

Adjourned to our local to tote up the scores. Great day had by all, and while it may be beer talk, we are teeing it up again in a bit over a month.

New Driver update - Funds sitting at about $600, helped by Collingwood bet/win. Will jump on the Sim this weekend at Drummo's and narrow the field and see where that leaves me.

Twilight Wednesday night very windy went ok, finished nett 35. Happy with that

Victor Harbour yesterday- 29 points- happy tee to green, but putting was all over the place. Super quick greens and I mean super quick (just been rolled) and when you’re not reading them well quick green are not good!

18 this morning at Lady bay, just a hit before going in the comp tomorrow. Jesus, this course is in unbelievable condition, probably the best I’ve seen it in. Rough has been cut to a ‘friendly’ level but the rest of the course looks amazing and is playing accordingly. Didn’t keep score as I was playing a couple of balls, but felt like I played really well.

I’ll keep you posted MT

Love Lady Bay.
Rough wasn't friendly a month ago [emoji3]
But the greens were on the slow side compared to the practice green
Good luck!!!

What a horror show.
First tee shot a little toey hook that ended up at base of a tree.
Next hole into the sun thought my ball went in bunker.
Chipped out and go to have a putt.... not mine  but did find mind caught in rough above bunker
Just didn't get anything going at all for a grand total of 15pts, thankfully decided to play the alternate stableford comp which is a first for me

Yeah Flaggy.
Pin locations weren't an issue. Seen worse on a Par round[emoji1787]
