Great get by the cats. There probably not a one year fix but if Rian gets time no doubt he will turn them around.
Got to be happy with that get if youre a Blyth fan.
Does he live up that way or is it FIFO?
Not living up this way. Apparently him and his family are looking forward to some family time each week with the drive up etc and then spending Sundays in the Valleys. Most likely getting accommodation at the Blyth Hotel.
Not uncommon up here at BSR our last two coaches (current coach is a player coach) is based in Adelaide. He takes the Adelaide training sessions which are combined with Orrorro and Kadina's Adelaide based players (both recruits and locals who now live in Adelaide for uni and work purposes. Trainings are held at Fitzroy Oval on Monday/Wednesday nights.
Then we have country trainings on Tuesday/Thursday which are pretty much identical to what the city guys do. They are taken by our training coordinator or b grade coach. Our country trainings swap between BSR in that order, Brinkworth tuesday, Spalding thursday, Redhill the next Tuesday.
Unique set up but it works, A grade playing in the last seven grand finals winning 6 of them, including this year in which the A Grade went undefeated and b grade only lost one game for the year, both winning premierships.
Also have a great history of producing decent footballers, with a population of 650 people in the towns that make up BSR the last 5 years has seen....
-Jack Hayes playing for St Kilda
-Nick Hayes playing for Eagles & now at Werribee
-Jackson Lee currently playing for Port Magpies
-Patrick Weckert played league for Eagles this year and potential AFL recruit
-Lachie Wilsdon currently playing for North Adelaide league
-Matt Longbottom came runner up in the SANFL reserves Magarey Medal 2 years ago
-Produced Joe Heinjus, Sam Heinjus, Issac Moller from the Eagles and Todd Slade from Glenelg who all played league football in the last 5-6 years.
