No changes for Lord's given it's a week away. Consider rotating bowlers ahead of Leeds. Warner has done just enough but failing at Lord's would certainly justify looking at another opener.

Agreed no changes for Lords baring injury

but given Leeds starts 3 days after the Lords test is due to finish I expect changes due to physical load management
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Starc / Hazelwood would be real fresh given they haven't played in both the WTC and 1st Ashes test.

Could we see:

2nd Test
Cummins
Hazelwood
Starc
Lyon

3rd Test
Cummins
Boland
Starc
Lyon

Given Starc tends to bowl shorter spells he is probably the one that could play back to back tests.....

Will Neser get a crack or is just a tad behind the other blokes???

Is Cummins as captain part of the resting rotations or is he is immune??

I meant neither played in both games, they played one or the other. For that reason Boland might be the first rested as he played both the WTC and 1st Ashes tests.

I'd play Neser over Starc would also booster the batting. Starcball v Bazball could be 4/29 (8) or 0/119 (10)

Depends on what the poms do though, they might juice the tracks up a bit, wait until they name their team first.

I actually agree with you but think the selectors will go with Starc first.

If Neser plays and the ball doesn't swing he'll be cannon fodder for the Pommy bats, who'll continue to blaze away. Starc leaks runs, but he's a proven wicket taker and he'll provide some rough for Lyon. The one I'm concerned about backing up is Hazlewood. He wasnt ready to play in the WTC final, so I doubt he's physically ready to back up in consecutive tests. Cummins, Starc, Boland and Lyon for me.

What happens if we lose the toss and bat last? Starcs footmarks have then hurt us right. Moen Ali is absolute rubbish, the only way he comes into the game is if there is footmarks for him to work into.

There is a 7 day break plus we did not bowl on the last day.

Given that I would feel that unless the conditions demand it no change will be made.

There are 3 day breaks between the second and third, and, the fourth and fifth tests. More likely to change then.

100% Agree

On another note.
England got 99 runs out of Crawley and Duckett
They got 98 runs out of Bairstow and four dropped catches and one missed stumping.

There is an easy change for them IMO but they wont

Full speed ahead Cap'n Stokes

Expect Lords to be Flat so I'd suggest you guys will pick Starc and rest boland. Then boland comes back for the 3rd test which should have a juicier wicket for him.

Can't leave the great man out. Rather Hazlewood out if we had to choose

Yup

but they wont

By the end of the Lords test England will have bowled at least a day and a half more overs than Australia

Last test they bowled 219 overs, we bowled 145.

There a reason why we took our time batting and Broad looked shagged (44 overs) at the end of day four and day five.

Dont change Baz.

Tend to agree but who goes out....

Cant be Root, Stokes, Brook,

Would have to be Pope or else there going to have to do a complete reshuffle with openers etc which I'm not sure they are at a stage they need to do that.

You kind of feel that BazBall will end up being something that is great against the smaller nations but once they come up to the big 2, us and India simply wont work. Will be an interesting watch how the bowlers go in a 5 test series of bazball.

With everything said Bazball wasnt a complete failure.

On a flat wicket they almost and should have won the opening test. 9 times out of 10 if they have us needing 80 runs with two wickets they win the test. I reckon it would be crazy for England to go into panic stations.

Throw in that it really was their declaration on day 1 that gave Australia a chance to win the test and England were in the test for its entirity.

Its fun but i think there is a bit of an overreaction from us Aussies about bazball being a failure. 6 months ago this England side could barely survive 3 days with this Aussie team and they almost took the first test.

Also keep in mind Englands prep for the first test in Australia was horrendous through no fault of their own, compare that to the Aussies in England who arguably had the greatest Ashes prep, a test match over there against the second best nation in the world and that was a massive leg up for the first test.
