Woke up properly in the morning and noticed the "dec" and then saw Australia 0/14 and was much happier. Had England got a wicket you could probably justify the declaration and we've seen this type of declaration before in Day/Night Tests to take advantage of the conditions. However, this wicket is flat and Root was on 118 not out! England could've easily been 420 odd overnight and could've been heading for 450+ which is a pretty hard score to lose from.
Australia have Day 2 and Day 3 to just bat. Keep wickets in hand and just drive England in to the ground. Ideally we bat half way into Day 4 if we can. If one of our batsmen are good enough, what a massive opportunity to score a huge score.
On the other hand, does this way of cricket for England produce so much confidence that they just know their score is enough and will consequently bowl Australia out and continue on their merry way?
I really hope one or two or all of Khawaja, Labuschagne and/or Smith get set and bat for days. They have the temperament to do so. Traditionally, that is the type of innings that will win a Test match. Or do we get caught up in this fast forward mode?

Moisture around means a swinging ball and we can't handle that. Could be trouble this morning.stampy wrote:stan wrote:Its raining at the moment.

I always remember Tresothick smashing Australia around the ground that day. Looking it up England went at 5.13 that innings, Brett Lee went at 6.52!DOC wrote:Bazball. Bazball. Bazball.
The 407 runs scored yesterday is the same as this test in 2005.
Australia lost that test by 2 runs when serial dipshit Billy Bowden gave Kasprowicz out caught from a ball that hit his glove that was not touching the bat.
