Didn't see this one coming. Maybe there are some tough salary cap related player decisions being made at CDFC.

Tom showed glimpses of potential during his time with us but at this point I’d still categorise him as a project player… good luck to him in his next chapter.

I am very disappointed to lose Tom; I believe he has the making of a very good player and that Norwood's gain will prove to be our loss. Also disappointed to lose Dylan Morton and Wyatt Patterson. Wyatt's form in the Ressies when he came back from injury was excellent and I would have loved him to continue.
I think we will need to gain a couple more key recruits before we can say our 2022 squad looks better than our 2021 one. We have done well with targeted recruiting so far but there are still gaps.

Cheers

Reading a number of players leaving clubs for other SANFL club, I wonder if the transfer fees are still being paid. Players seem to leave too easily.

The North Adelaide Football Club are excited to announce the additions of Lachlan Grubb and Jared Deep for the 2022 season.

Lachlan Grubb
Age: 18
Height: 177cm
Weight: 75kg

Lachlan Grubb joins the Roosters from the Central District Football Club. Lachlan has elite speed and endurance and represented South Australia this year at the National Under 19 Championships. Lachlan can play a variety of roles and we look forward to him developing his game under the guidance of Jacob Surjan.

Senior Coach Jacob Surjan;
“Lachlan is a great kid who wants to improve and get better. Has speed to burn and some weapons which we think can add great value to our squad and will complement our game style. Lachlan played in the state u19’s this season and acquitted himself very well against the best players around the country. We welcome the whole Grubb family to the North Adelaide Football Club.”

Jared Deep
Age: 23
Height: 181cm
Weight: 78kg

Jared Deep returns to the Roosters after two years back home in Sydney. Jared played in our 2018 reserves premiership and represented the Roosters at league level in 10 appearances during the 2018 & 2019 seasons. Jared is a versatile player who is best suited to an outside midfield role. Jared has good speed and endurance and we look forward to getting Jared back involved in our program, where he is a popular member of the playing group.

Senior Coach Jacob Surjan;
“It’s with great pleasure we announce the return of Jared Deep back to the NAFC. Jared played with us in the 2018 & 2019 seasons. A member of our 2018 reserves premiership side, Jared played 10 league matches. A wingman who has matured and improved his game. He has line breaking speed, great endurance and an efficient kick. We welcome the Deep family back to the Roosters.”

We would like to welcome Lachlan, Jared and their families to North Adelaide and we look forward to watching them represent the Roosters in season 2022.

Another player we really couldn't afford to lose, especially as it means we lose his brothers as well. Starting to not look good for next year.

It pretty well has been since the old bulldog banter forum closed!

Might have a chat with Cooper Dahms about resurrecting it.

That would be a Godsend.

With Grubb gone and with Leek Alleer almost a certainty to get drafted that will be a minimum of 14 players gone from this year.We only have 5 definite ins going to need a few more by the looks .

I thought that the AFL reserve teams were to have a place to play their unselected list players, and top up with "community" players to give them some experience: not to recycle players who haven't made the seniors grade in SANFL.

It’s definitely not easy but it’s looking very possible that we may improve our best 21 but lose significant depth and be praying for an injury free year.

I think we'll have pretty good depth anyway. It was only when the younger blokes from the U18s plus a few returning from injury later in the season came into the side that our reserves really started to play good footy. We had a great defence with Patterson, Montgomery, Iles and J Neagle but it was the younger players who started the fast attacking footy that took us to the GF. Some will go in the draft and no doubt we'll lose some to other sides (Grubb etc) but plenty will stay on to see how good they can be.
