Talk on the national game

Tex had to apologise to the events coordinator at my work for being a sexist pig after a work function.

“Are you on your rags or something” was the comment.

Think this may be the case. Hearing reliable stories from inside the club that this was not a "once off", and he often made comments that were inappropriate.

The last one involved the gay community and people were really taken aback by his comments. Think he is very old school (bit simple) and just not up with the times that you cant say this sort of stuff anymore.

With the talk from Silvers and Nicks about changing the culture, this does not look good for his future. If this happened last year when his form was embarrassing there would be no question about it, but because he re discovered his old form this season it has become a bit harder to get rid of him.

Crows are years away from being a force on field and Tex will not be a part of this, so better to just sever ties now and start fresh in my opinion.

I find that slightly hard to believe and if anything paints the Crows in a really bad light.

Would speak volumes if the Crows knew of this behaviour yet made him the captain of the football club. Surely they wouldn't have done that.

Came from a current player so it is very true

Well then the Crows are truly a laughing stock!!!!

If that is true then the Crows have made their bed so to speak and Tex surely has played his last game.

It starts to make you think that potentially the 'clubs culture' was ordinary especially in regards to racism.

Is it any coincidence:
-The current Tex situation
-Supposedly Tex has a prior history
-The clubs infamous camp
-Betts, Cameron, Ellis Yolmen all pushed for moves away from the club

What's the saying the fish rots from the head.

As would be the case at any club these days, sponsors (rightly) won’t want to have any connection whatsoever to such abhorrent behavior. That and the fact I’m not sure Nicks has ever been a fan makes it hard for him to get back. Kinda feels like the club is making all the right noises whilst waiting to gauge public opinion before making their minds up. I like Tex, he’s done a heap for kids, charity and people in need of help so I don’t think he’s a bad person, but will pay the price for not growing up and moving on from “old school” ways (hate using that term because it should never have been acceptable).

TBH, the crows have been in damage control for so long now they’re trying to mend their ways and rebuild their culture, so to that end I think they probably would have wanted to terminate his contract immediately, but would still have a level of duty of care toward all their players, Tex included.

As Corona Man has said, there’s no winner out of this - In time there could be if it eats into the scourge of racism. Let’s hope that’s the case for the sake of every Australian.

Great Post.

I'm really surprised the AFL didn't take bigger stance to be honest. They absolutely scream to the roof tops about indigenous round and no doubt they love the commercial benefits it brings. When they had a chance to take a real stance they haven't acted strong enough. The AFL are all for show and imo thrown the Crows a bit under the bus in this situation by hedging their own bets.

It was a total sell out from memory.

The tickets sold out quicker than Bolton/Bucky sold out the prison bar guernsey. :-)

Mate this is going to sound harsh but I'm more amazed that you are married and found another human that understands you more so than anything else.

Good luck to you.

That's exactly right. He is a country lad, grew up in Broken Hill, would have had lots of aboriginal people living there and back growing up those sort of comments were very, very common. We have all moved on from that and realise how hurtful they are.

Anyone that's been to broken hill would know its a rough place.
He would've been bought up old school, as someone said, and old habits and mindsets die hard.
Anyway I'm certainly not going to throw rocks at him.
He should play on next year and cop whatever's coming.
A bit like me old mate Ed, going out on a sour note would be a shit way to finish a serviceable career.

Interesting to see if he plays on. There is one club in the bullies who are screaming out for a guy like him but with the $hit that went down with his brother allegedly leaking game plan info to Danial whilst being at the dogs would they take him on?
