Mckenzie was given BOG by Ginever and Tredrea. They were in complete and furious agreement. No mention in any other report that I have seen.

Thoughts?

Well, mine are on the last page, I nearly had him instead of Burton, I thought both had moments that were really important, Burton early when Collingwood had the ascendency and McKenzie late, particularly some one on one's against De Goey. Couldn't have McKenzie as best by any stretch.

I find sports psychology so interesting and in particular why teams 'start slow'

Is it mental preparation?
Is it attitude?
Is it the pre game warm up?
Is it just a group mentality, they need to backs against the wall to find the energy and aggression?
It's obviously no talent related, or will to win related as they can do both of those aspects well.

Former Melbourne and Port Adelaide player Jack Watts has been issued with an arrest warrant.

Multiple South Australian outlets are reporting an Adelaide court on Monday heard a summons for the 30-year-old’s first court appearance had not been served, despite attempts to locate him.

He is facing charge of driving without due care and failing to report a crash following an accident in September 20, 2020.

Is it mental preparation? - This was always my biggest downfall, either not being ready or having already played the game in my head
Is it attitude? - Kind of goes with the above, the right attitude and preparation go hand in hand.
Is it the pre game warm up? - Unlikely, most players are doing their own thing up to a point and that routine wouldn't change.
Is it just a group mentality, they need to backs against the wall to find the energy and aggression? - I don't think so.
It's obviously no talent related, or will to win related as they can do both of those aspects well.

It's the formula coaches in every sport all over the world are looking for, how do we start the same way, with the same intensity, with the same mindset every time? In reality you can't, human beings are far too complex to have them tuned, prepped and set up to play the same way against different opponents, in different conditions, on different days.

I think a lot comes down to the leaders and them being consistent in their expectations of the group. I trust our leaders to be doing that, but as above, how can you get 22 blokes up all at the same time, every time?

I actually thought it was more about Collingwood's start than PA yesterday - Grundy won the ruck as was expected, and once the Pies got hands on ball it was like hitting pause on the game and then playing keepy off. They absolutely denied PA any attacking opportunity in the opening 10-15min.. that alone must sap a sides early enthusiasm and makes it hard to find and sort of momentum or fluency.

Boak was the only player keeping PA in the game really in the first half + Gray's two goals.

As noted in my post above I reckon Burton had some important moments in the first quarter when Collingwood had the foot on our throat. Took one intercept mark, a couple of well timed spoils, one cool kick from defence to a target, all when we needed them.

Mackay at least touches the ball more than half a dozen times a game though.

Both are very lucky to be in their respective sides though
