There was no competition during the First world war so surely they need to wait another 4 years to celebrate 100 seasons. ;)

They should take some years off for Boer War, War of the Roses and the Civil War too.

It is there 101st season.

Next month is the start of their 101st season.
They can celebrate 101 complete years this time next year.

Just like i celebrated my 50th last September at the start of my 51st year.
Just like the SANFL celebrated their century in 1977 and the state celebrated the Jubilee in 1986.

And you're correct. 1900 to 1999 is 99 years. We celebrated the new century at the start of 2000 just after midnight when it was 100 years.

Footy clubs that celebrate a year too soon shit me, at least the Bays have done the right thing this time.

the year 2000 was the start of the 2000th year, the new century & millenium started at midnight of December 31 2000. As far as I know, we didn't have a year zero, it started on 1AD.

We did if you use astronomical year numbering which is the most logical way to determine when historical events occurred. ;)

There is a difference depending on what time of year you are looking at.

1900 to 1999 is 100 full years, as you are dating from the beginning of 1900 to the end of 1999.

However, March 1 1900 to March 1 1999 is only 99 years, as you are not including January and February of 1900 or March to December of 1999.

Cheers

Should be of interest to all South supporters. A look behind the scenes leading up to the trial against Centrals last week.

As posted by DOC all South supporters and indeed all you lovers of the SANFL go to youtube to watch "SAFC Media Presentation of Behind the Game", this is an extraordinary insight into the club that would not only apply to South but all SANFL clubs. Its production quality is wonderful and exposes the professionalism that goes into an SANFL club. Brilliant to watch well done SAFC.

Agreed. I really enjoyed it and it was presented very well. Good initiative by the club.
