I actually thought Bevo had a better test average than he did, he struggled real bad against the short ball, hence the huge difference in his white ball form, I don't think they were allowed to bowl over shoulder height for a while when he was playing.

10621 runs @60.69 with 42 hundreds (the second most behind Boofs 45) in Shield cricket is an outstanding record but then to play 18 test matches, have 30 innings and average only 29.07 and not make a hundred shows he's (unfortunately for him) perfect for the in-between category.

Jackson Bird bowl himself into an ashes squad ahead of Starc?

Very underrated bowler but think he is one of these guys that really needs the wicket to be doing a bit, similar to Starc needs there to be swing. Also not sure Bird would compliment the current pace attack. For mine Pattinson with his fire and brimstone is ahead of Bird.

Current shield record 409 wickets @ 24.

As TDK pointed out in a question I raised, he'd fit right into that in-between category.

In the most recent Shield match against NSW Bird rushed past 300 Shield wickets, he now has 307 @21.33 at a SR of 44.9.
He is 15th overall in the most SS wickets list and has both a lower average and better strike rate than everyone above him on that list.

Stuart Law played one test and scored 54*, Martin Love averaged 46 but only played 5 tests, mind you, this was at a time that Haydos couldn't break into the side despite scoring runs in his sleep.

Used to jump on the next train as a 11-12 year old if they had put on a few before lunch, the oldies could keep an eye on me still on TV with the other 47 spectators. Used to stand near the VR gates to try and get a catch.
