Surely they can work a few nights over the year considering they only work from 9 - 3 each day and gets 12 weeks holidays.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I was waiting for a bite from him to be honest but whilst I'm at it, I'm sure it is a tough job but so are lots of jobs. I wish i had have become a teacher. 12 weeks holidays a year, good wage and essentially Monday to Friday normal job hours if you take into a account doing a couple hours a day after school finishes for marking etc. Not a bad job if you ask me.

Yeah but working with pain in the arse kids who you can’t discipline anymore would negate all that for me.
I’d lose me shit with them.

Every professional job requires some unpaid after hours work, Teaching seems one of the few vocations that are very vocal about having to do this.

FWIW Teachers do work hard and I respect them and the job they do, my sister is a teacher and my son wants to be one.

I don't think their union represents their profession very well publicly.

Hit the nail on the head. How bad is it when you head out socially with a few teachers and all they do is whinge about work all bloody night. Happens every single time.

If teachers got $120k a year I'd tell them to shoosh, the fact they don't AND they have to put up with 30 or more snot gobblers every day I reckon they deserve some breaks.

As for the 12 weeks of holidays a year, I can assure you they spend most of that wrapping up one term and preparing for the next.

All that aside, their union is extremely poor at speaking on their behalf, absolutely agreed.

Surely people know what they are in for becoming teachers, they know about 30 kids, home marking and out of hours concerts.

People think they get 12 weeks holidays but it’s probably about 8, still more than the normal 4 weeks

First hand experience tells me otherwise.

Agreed with the first part, but I doubt anyone at Uni studying to teach has a grasp of the actual workload they undertake.

I've got a good mate who is a copper, quite high ranking, several who are teachers, some in deputy/principal roles, I can tell you with what I get for what I do and what they get for what they do there isn't a snowflakes chance that I'd swap with them. No way.

Bloody oath, your job is what you make of it, we all hate it but it puts a roof over our head, no need to fill everyone else with your misery as they'll have their own, I turn off as soon as I drive out of the gates.

What's the difference between a job and a wife?

The job still sucks after 5 years.

It was a $1.71 at most near me yesterday.
First time ever I didn’t fill up to the top.
I don’t normally care too much about petrol prices but that was ridiculous.
