There was some massive scoring in Division III as I believe this particular league outperformed all others this week. Spare a thought for Failed Creation who copped a quite frankly rude 2608 from Magpie Mafia who scored the highest total in the Hogg so far this season. Even worse for Creation is the fact that they scored really well against a gun side but lost and are still in the red zone. Man that's harsh. Another team to score 2400 and lose were Kiwi krappers with the kiwi looking a likely bet to go down even though he has played some outstanding SuperCoach at times this year.

Leading the way in this competitive comp are the usual suspects but one top side that took a tumble was the Killer Wombats who were stunned by ZedForce who transformed themselves from relegation battlers to finals contenders. As mentioned by Lightning 'the bye' McQueen above fourteen teams are still alive and the bottom four can still escape relegation as well. The top three sides look to be the teams to beat but as the scoring from this round has shown, any side can win on their day. Should be a cracking finals series here.

Not really. This is a very competitive league. The jump between Division III and Division IV is huge. III is only a few hundred behind II, but about 8000 clear of IV.

The Killer Wombats delivered the killer blow to JOBBY'S top four hopes with an important 68 point win in a high quality clash at Wombat Park. This means that with one round to play the top four is set. The top four might be set but there is an absolute logjam for last two available spots in the top eight. Both the Woollies and the Willies have a low percentage so thee are three sides out of the eight right now who are still in the hunt. The relegation picture identified the first side to go down as the kiwi is gawn. Failed Creation says he is down but his percentage is better than all three sides currently on six wins so the door is not closed and creation has not yet gone down.

The Verdict

Mafia holds top spot I reckon which means Duromine could go out of the eight at the last minute. Dukes and Blghty are in the match of the round in a tough match to call but it will be close enough to keep Mafia on top. A loss by Blighty could see the Wombatsclaim third as they should win easily over the kiwi who is cooked. Woolballs and WeBrown are battling it out with the winner almost certainly in the eight. The Bye and The Willies are playing sides facing relegation battles and should get up so the last few places are really up for grabs. Almost impossible to tip what might happen in the last round with so many still in the hunt and so many not yet safe from the drop.

You have to like Magpie Mafia for this flag even though they've slipped up a little in recent weeks. It's time for Killer Wombats and Blighty to finally go up and it's hard to ignore the Dukes for a promotion on this years' form.

and after the first round of finals we saw some very strong results from most sides, with all but one team scoring over 2400. Blighty teasdale (2502) were unlucky to come up against the Wombats (2655), who nailed their highest score of the season, so the wombats get a week off . Woolballs (2457) managed to beat Jobbby's elite (2449) in the closest game of the round, which sets them up against Blighty this weekend.

Magpie Mafia (2418) got up in another close one over The Dukes (2400) to book themselves a week off. that leaves the Dukes to face a storming Duromine dependant (2584) who had the biggest win of the weekend over We Brown as one (2373)

while We Brown as one, and Jobby's elite are out of the finals, their scores will still count towards their overall and may help determine any (extra) promotions in the 2020 season, so should still keep half an eye on their teams.

ok, grand final week (yes, i know i missed a week or two inbetween.... apologies)

so the two top scorers for the league have managed to string enough finals wins together to face off against each other in the grand final. with only an average 20 points seperating these two sides over the course of the season, one would hope for a good, close, grand final.

Magpie Mafia have been a solid performer this season, pretty much in the top 2 all season. the Wombats have had the odd stumble, but have pretty much been top 4 most of the season too, and with a difference of only 4 points between their prelim scores it could be anyones.

at the moment the supercoach predictor has the magpies winning by 25, which means it could all come down to selections, captains choice, and trades to cover any holes. i happen to know the Wombats do have trades left, but no idea on the state of the Magpies cupboard.

Review

Blighty Teasdale won the minor premiership but it was the best team of the year who ended up winning the premiership as Ross' Magpie Mafia swooped on his first premiership win in the Hogg. The Mafia had a good year last season but they really upped their game this season and they proved very hard to defeat, particularly in the early rounds when the Magpies were unbeatable. The top four sides all looked good things to be promoted with JOBBY perhaps the main threat to them. Killer Wombats had a solid finals series as the Wombats and the Magpies had the edge over Blighty and The Dukes.

There were a few hard luck stories in the relegation fight as relegated Power Failure scored 8th in scoring but went down to Division IV. Meanwhile FootyLegends and ZedForce could consider themselves very fortunate not to be relegated this season. The Kiwi stopped winning weeks ago and the team that slipped late was CDFC1965. Always good to see the Doggies struggling LOL.

So in the end, the team that was on top nearly all year won the comp but this was a very competitive league with the rankings going up all the time. Blighty had his most consistent season as did The Dukes and JOBBY was successful at this level. Congratulations to Magpie Mafia, the 2019 Hogg Division III premiers. Well played Ross.

Thanks for running comp again this year and doing the reviews etc , was a shocker year for Power Rules this year losing some close games , hopefully back to Div 4 next year regroup and force my way back to div 3 again
