It's expected Port could end up with Brisbane's pick 5, Hawthorn's pick 15 and Ryan Burton and give up pick 6 and Wingard ( along with something else, future 3rd/4th rounder ).
If Port can end up with 5,10,15 and Burton after losing Wingard, Polec, Pittard ( boohoo ), Amon whilst not thrilled at one of our losses ( Wingard ) I'll be happy that we've got the best possible outcome for our club.
3 picks in the top 15 and Ryan Burton. Not many clubs would knock back compensation like that.
Good compensation that's for sure but a step backwards. You will pick up some very handy players in the draft but they want have the same impact as a Polec or Wingard for a few years. For a team that topped up with experience players last season to challenge it's not ideal but a decent outcome considering.
Wingard is a loss, one of my favorites and someone who will hurt watching them in another guernsey, but I know you get them feels. Very hard to replace but hopefully whoever we get at pick 5 can come straight in as most top 10 picks are expected to do.
Polec, was only in the middle of 2017 that he was dropped for dead set ordinary efforts and he's had one solid year this year. Been nothing more than that, no super star, solid. North need runners, are prepared to pay him overs, good luck to him but he's replaceable.
Can 5 and 10 have the same impact as those two? Probably not, but this group needed a shake up and if it means losing Wingard to set some new standards then so be it.
Pittard and Amon no loss, not even to the Magpies.
PAFC. Forever.
LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
