My wife's work booked a table of 10 for the Fire & Ice Ball (A farewell to the trust), we were lucky enough to be asked to attend the evening at Town Hall on Friday night.

This bloke had a vision 15 years ago while sitting in the hospital confined to his bed with only a TV to keep him occupied, all he set out to do was to raise enough money to put a DVD player in each room and buy a few DVD's so the next patient didn't endure the same boredom as he did.

15 years later, over $20M raised for victims, awareness, research and facilities is remarkable, some of the stories and tributes for the night were lump in the throat sort of stuff where you couldn't help but admire what he has achieved and the difference the trust has made to some families.

It was hosted by Mark Sodestrom who was the perfect MC for the job, a fantastic evening that really moved me.

Ha, I argue daily with those types, it's been a long frustrating process watching the ball-lickers get looked after, the cracks are appearing now we're in a tough period.
