In the heat of the game and when scores are close there is no way in hell your gonna put your 25th best player out on the ground

And if youre one of the 7 nuffies sitting on the bench you can forget about your 8 minutes of field time in the last quarter cos the coach has a game to win and needs his best cattle out on the ground

They may as well get dressed at 3 quarter time lol

If your not gonna give a kid more than a quarter n half a game chuck him in the magoos or tell him to go play for MP and get a full game, because otherwise what a waste of time in his week.

err rotations is why u only get 8 minutes per quarter, but if youre 2 points ahead with only 10 minutes to go you really think the coach gives a stuff about rotations and giving his bench nuffies (worst 10 players) a bit of game time?

notice how Q only gave us his B-Grade spread who won by 14 goals and not the A-Grade team sheet data who won by 1 point

I can't really comprehend how it is such a big issue in a division such as div 7.

Each club will have their own theory, each club will try and implement what is best for them.

Some clubs will play with 25 and find there is some push back from players due to limited game time etc. They most likely will end up playing with 22 until finals when every player we will want to be part of an A Grade premiership push regardless of game time.

Some clubs will make this work and use a couple of the positions to develop some younger footballers who would love the thought of being an 'A Grade' footballer.

Either way the rule is designed to try and maximize the amount of people getting a kick on the weekend which can only be a good thing.

Personally I would want the rule to be able to allow a few of the blokes to play B Grade and then be pulled into the A Grade to make the 23rd, 24th, 25th player. I think that allows for the perfect blend of increasing blokes who can play and still giving people a reasonable amount of game time.

Surely there are blokes out there like me who would to go out and have a kick and ideally only need to play 1.5-2 quarters of footy.

I personally don't care about all the politics involved with this 1 rule in particular. It gives clubs that has more playing personnel a chance to have them play on the weekend instead of missing out and getting pissed off for not being picked. It's the world we live in at the moment.

If i was a 'young' aspiring footballer (not a grandpa footballer like most of you blokes) and i was told im just a surplus un-required footballer who might get a quarter or so on the field i would leave immediately

Who pays fees, buys uniforms and boots, trains twice, invites their wife kids or relatives to see you play footy all to spend most of the afternoon on the bench

Youre all bias and lack empathy for the individual who come to your club to play footy, and believing this player is having a wonderful time & developing immensly by spending 60% of the game sitting on a bench NOT PARTICIPATING youre in my opinion delusional. Sorry :D

So he goes to a less successful club, gets a full game and gets whalloped week in, week out and doesn't enjoy the day, doesn't get to socialise much after the game as not many go back to the club after a loss. He can be complacent that he doesn't need to improve his skills as he will get a game regardless as his new club has to make half a dozen calls every Thursday night to fill the last couple spots.

Then comes Saturday when the coach is waiting outside the changeroom door sucking on a durry watching the carpark to see who else might fill in or is going to rock up or not.

I think most blokes know where they stand in the team, it's not a great feeling as a coach telling players why they are starting on the bench or not getting a game but it's a part of life in sports.

There is a reason I don't play professional golf.

Definitely didn't request to come into div 7. We have issues with triple headers at our club so we were told it was either that or we play div 7. I am sure that there was more back and forth than just that but we didn't request to play Div 7/7R. We were informed 2 weeks ago only. We were asked to play in this comp months back and requested to stay in the C grade comps and up until 2-3 weeks ago we were in C2 and C6. Us changing is the reason C2 now have a bye. We were not really preparing to play against other clubs A grade sides, lucky that there was some really good numbers training in pre-season for the C and D grade otherwise we would be further back IMO.

What are those issues out of interest? Harder to organise support for one side rather than two playing together?

Your club has good depth, I am sure you will be more than competitive in Div 7.

I believe it was support staff. With the D grade playing at the same time as the B grade it left little time to get trainers to both games. When there is 4 sides it's hard to split the duties evenly. Personally I don't have a problem playing in this division.

For us with 25 on the bench in the both grades on the weekend a guy who may not have been able to play with less got a game. He didn't get a huge amount of time but honestly if he is getting half a game or less in div 7R then he will most likely get nothing at other clubs with less numbers and grades.

if you were a young aspiring player who cant find a go in a D7R team, why would you invite your missus, if you were that bad you wouldn't have a missus and your family should be ashamed to go and watch you

Also noting that on any particular game there are 14 footballers between both teams standing around on both benches hoping for 8 minutes a quarter

..... "14"

Need 14 players anyone?

If you are ever ‘ashamed’ of going to watch your kids play or do anything (regardless of the level), then maybe you should of had a vasectomy! Disgraceful attitude
