No wonder they do it, be tougher and it will go away.

Piss poor

We have seen with the Rabada case that the ICC simply doesn’t have the power to suspend players for any length of time.

Guess it was expected, Regardless of the circumstances though, that was pathetic. Surely Usman has played his last test innings, well overseas anyway.

A couple of others have been tried and tried but only scores runs on flat tracks.

Perhaps time for another rebuild. Take some pain so to speak and blood some newer talent and give them a chance to settle in.

Khawaja still has a much better test record than Shaun Marsh. Marsh played very well against the poms (with an extraordinary amount of luck) but time and again when he plays against the top class teams he fails. Surely it is time to retire him and bring in some young blood.

If true, even dopier,
Send players not involved in Aust most prestigious final.
Seriously.

That would be a disgrace, especially now as the trophy can't be retained

Send them all home, cancel the last test, reduce their contracts by the amount South Africa would lose by not having the last test (including match payments to the SA players) and send them the money.

Trust is the big issue. How are we going to feel watching Smith or Warner walk out to bat next summer, hit a four, score a ton? One of the bowlers come on and produce a match-winning spell when it looks like not much is happening?

Should they be banned forever? No. Match-fixing is still the ultimate in that regard. ICC penalties are ordinary, but then we know what a disgrace that organisation is. 12 month bans would be about right IMO.

To me it sort of feels like the Rebel tours in the '80's - perhaps some older posters can comment a bit more on that. Our trust has been violated but in a couple years time we will be accepting these players for their talents as players, even if it is slightly guarded or not the way we once looked at them.

Regarding the restructuring of the leadership, I think there also needs to be a restructuring of the schedule. Warner and a couple of others in NZ right up till the start of the tour? Do the players get out amongst the schools and communities much anymore, either in Australia or South Africa? To me there should be some sort of requirement. I said to a non-cricketing mate about 20 years ago I felt cricketers cared more deeply about the game as a whole at all levels (this was around the time Taylor was captain and there was the suggestion of industrial action) whilst AFL footballers were more in it for themselves. After the last few years, especially with the advent of IPL and BigBash etc, I'm not sure that is the case anymore. :(

Agree with the first bit, send them all home. Disagree with the second bit, we committed to a 4 test series so we need to suck that up, send a fresh batch of "un-tainted" players over there, yes they will get belted, but stiff. We (The Australian cricket team) deserve that. We the Australian cricket public deserve better from our VERY highly paid players to be above even considering cheating, let alone acting it out.

Smith & Bancroft will be forever tainted, and taunted.... I want to hear who else was involved. Watched a bit of it last night, didn't see Boof at all on the coverage, where was he hiding?

But were any previous instances of ball tampering as clearly premeditated and orchestrated as Tapegate?

I'm not saying its ok cause they are Australian. I am saying to all the other countries taking shots, have a look in your own backyards before slinging shit at us.
We are the only country who will deal with this properly, regardless of the wet lettuce leaf approach by the ICC.

Any parties privvy to this plan should be banned for a minimum 12 months from all forms of cricket.

If they come back and prove themselves worthy of representing our country through the Shield competition then they deserve the right to play for Australia, none of them though should ever hold a leadership role again. If all 11 were complicit then all 11 suffer the same fate.

I'd rather lose every Test fairly that win one cheating.

Ashamed of these men right now. Ashamed.
PAFC. Forever.
