Vic Richardson played his first game for Sturt in 1915 and last first class match for South Australia in 1938.

That of course says nothing for his accomplishments in baseball, lacrosse etc.

Like him or not, Mundine would rank among Australians greatest ever sportsmen.

Professional Rugby League player and arguably the best play maker in the game at one point, premiership player, NSW State of Origin representative, then moved to boxing and has been a professional boxer for best part of 18 years - 48 wins from 56 fights and world champion in 3 weight divisions.

The ability to dominate/sustain success in two vastly different professional fields over a 25yr period alone is a feat.

The Title is greatest ever sportsman not greatest ever wanker! ;)

Statistically, It's impossible to determine, how do you determine the greatness of any sportsperson over another in a different sport.

What makes Fed's 20 grand slams more impressive than Bradmans centuries, or Michael Jordans stats, or Ayrton Sennas F1 wins?

How he conducts himself, that's how. ;)

Can scrap Bradman off your list then.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

Nah I thought Id leave it here as I thought there's more traffic looking through here. What you could do for me though is to adjust the topic to, " Who is the Greatest Ever Sports Person". I just realised I am a little bit political incorrect with my original topic. Dont wanna upset anyone.

Carey. Anyone who can play so well after a skin full of Red Tins the night before and still perform gets my vote.

Williams was head and shoulders above her competition for a long time, but i'm sorry for me Federer is the greater out of the two - his competition has been I believe harder over the journey.

Both greats in their own right though.

How many of Serena's went 5 sets?

Easily Happy Gilmore, from Part time Hockey player to winning the Tour Championship after being 4 shots down against Shooter McGavin on the back 9.

My two bobs worth....and it is really hard because all mentioned are amazing sportsman!

On the surface Bradman's numbers suggest he was so significantly better than anyone before or since that he is the best.
He averaged twice as much as the next best. Not just averaging more, but twice as much.
Not sure any other sportsman can claim that?
