B: Hinkley will sign a contact extension and stay at Port and has wisely used the GC offer to gain leverage over Port for a longer, more lucrative deal.

Interesting day ahead.

I think it will be 'B' and Ken will send the GC a Christmas card thanking him for the extra money he got from Port.

I for one, hopes you're right. If he does go, Koch has a lot to answer for. PA will head south once again. Sad times.

If Hinkley does stay it shows he's aware that Koch's comments were from a mad Port Adelaide fan in the heat of the moment, it's just he gets a microphone and an audience to pour out his disappointment and the whole Koch vs Hinkley vs Thomas thing was a massive media beat up designed to keep football in the headlines after a shit finals series to date.

If Hinkley leaves then he's taken Koch's comments, not just the ones after the elimination final to heart OR the Gold Coast offer backed by the shit-AFL has been too good to refuse.

I, for one, am pretty keen to find out which one is true.

Reckon A is on the money.
The AFL will do anything to try a make the Suns a success, they didn't install Evans up there for nothing. Very similar to how they are going to throw money at Lynch to keep him up there, wouldn't put anything past the crooks

New Coach, new list? Port need to get a first round pick.
What are your thoughts on throwing Boak on the trade table?

I can only assume you've done a thorough review of the PAFC's list, their age, experience and have watched the development of the younger players on the list closely?

I'd like to know when you think you are realistic chance of winning a GF and staying at the top for a certain period?

With the turn over in the last 2 years and the youth injected this year I'd like to think backing up next year with another finals berth would be on the cards and from there you make your own luck.

Me too.

He's more suited to that sort of role IMO. With that money and security it would be in a perfect spot for him.

AFL is basically entertainment and marketing, the footy is almost secondary as it pretty much takes care of itself provided there are a couple of Victorian clubs at the pointy end of the ladder.

AFL need/want the Gold Coast to work in the Qld market cue eastern seaboard.

The SA market takes care of itself as it is a footy state.

AFL will make it a win;win for all parties to get Hinkley to the Gold Coast.

Port may get a better coach in the long-run, i.e. Dew

All IMO
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I don't think Hinkley going would be a bad thing for Port.

My view is we need an exceptional game-day tactician, first and foremost. A renowned senior assistant who has designed, delivered and implemented successful on field strategies. 10+ years in the AFL system. From a premierships winning (or close to it) program.

Would prefer him to have a bit of ruthlessness. Fear is an incredibly powerful human motivator, some say the most powerful. These guys are professional athletes, we already know they're driven and want to succeed. We're not trying to convince them to rock up to Tuesday training at Mitchell Park - so someone with the balls to really put these players motivations to the wall.

If we get all that then I would then ensure the footy dev and player liaison side of things is beefed up considerably as well.

Ken did an outstanding job, all things considered, in getting this group to bond and build towards success, he is a great relationship coach. But he has failed - perhaps not entirely his own fault - at implementing a league leading method for what is IMO a good squad of hungry, talented, young players.

The quip of "like driving a Lamborghini with the hand brake on" still rings true to me.

Raises some awkward conversations re messrs Basset, Voss, Nicks and Lade too.

Probably a stupid question, but if Hinkley goes to GC - will they have to pay Port his remaining year on his contract?

With all of this discussion about Hinkley to the Coast, would that be why Dew has turned down the job at this point, saying "I need more information."
The more information being, "will Hinkley take the job? Will I be able to coach a club that's in a far better position?"

Interesting questions.

It comes amid reports that highly rated Sydney Swans assistant coach Stuart Dew has put his interest for the Suns' position on hold as he waits to see the outcome of the club's move on Hinkley.

The Swans say that Dew hasn't yet informed them he's out of the race.

Let Hinkley go, chase Dew.

Cheers... But if Port sign Hinkley for another couple seasons then sack him end of 2018 they would still have to pay out his contract?
