Another reason SANFL crowds are falling

Postby VALE PARK » Fri Sep 01, 2017 11:12 am

At the end of the minor round I notice only 3 league players achieved an averaged above 2 goals a game.
In the reserves competition No player achieved an average of 2 goals a game.
In the U18 competition No player achieved at average of 2 goals a game
Spectators love high scoring games and players kicking bags of goals,
until things improve the SANFul will decline.
The weather this year has been very good good gif skills footy.
The game is not the same.

Not going to cause an arguement just would like to ask you .
Do you attend SANFl games ?
If you do no worries .
If you do not go to sanfl games think your posts are not really needed .
For me only those who go and watch should either say it's woeful or not .
Once again not looking for a fight

so, how will talking to people that already go, help to arrest the slide of crowd numbers?
shouldnt the sanfl be talking to those that arent going, to find out what would encourage them to attend?
preaching to the converted will not turn things around
surely i, as someone who no longer attends, has more of an opinion as to why i dont anymore, than the people that do still go? or do you know me better than i know myself?
if i was involved in an sanfl club, i would be doing my best to contact those that are no longer members, and surveying them as to why not. that would help to build an accurate picture as to why they are no longer going, and they can then decide how to fix things. sadly in my case, North wouldnt fix any of my concerns even if they had been bothered to contact me. ive had more contact from south and centrals each year asking me to re-sign up even though i was only ever a member of their clubs for one season, yet North have not contacted me once....

You people who don't attend just seem to post doom and gloom
Stats can I guess be taken either way
As I said not look for a fight you can say what you like as I can say what I like
To me it seems reading the posts from people WHO DONT GO it's all doom and gloom . My point of you don't go how do you actually know
NORTH would be a bad example if north win prospect is full of north fans lose games no north fans turn up .
Now as an old West Torrens fan I went to games where my side kicked one goal where the other team kicked 30
Yep it was Crap but I went I saw I kept going
My point if you don't go how do you know

South Adelaide games as a spectacle have been generally average this year. The few games I watched on TV were not overly captivating either. South kicked over the ton just once this season.

The “AFL” style game of 25+ players around the ball and then “fast break” football doesn’t lend itself all that well to a league where players are not as skilled, fit and well drilled. The second term last Saturday saw the ball contested inside the Ravens’ F50 arc for the majority. South would rush a kick out of defence only for it to be picked off by the Ravens’ wall across half forward. With 15 South players inside D50 a pack would generally form following the re-entry kick. And repeat…

Having said that, this style of football has been in vogue for a number of years, so 2017 was nothing particularly new. Forwards rarely have the room to operate like they once did.

And i went to every north game in 03 when we won a single game for the season, whats your point? Me not attending now has absolutely nothing to do with norths lack of success

I know that it is crap as i am able to gather information from other sources. I dont need to see something first hand to velieve it is true. Do you also believe the earth is flat because you yourself havent been to space yourself to see otherwise?

Norths home crowds were up this year, the Eagles home crowds were down.
Youre right mickyj, North is a bad example of your point, probably the worst as North have traditionally had the least amount of home match crowd differences when they win or lose in the entire comp. North have been much more affected by the AFL teams entering the comp, figures back that up.

I must be recalling jarmans days at prospect big crowds
This year at prospect v Eagles not many north fans
The north fans sitting on the far side all got up at 3/4 time and left

And we all know Eagles have low crowds

But I have read your posts wedgie you tell sa footy you go to the pub and drink try to watch on your phone
That's your choice
My choice I go
The crowds at eagles appear the same excluding when playing afl teams

I did not answer for a fight
But you are backing up my statement you post you go to the pub rather than go to north games your choice
Yet you know crowds are down
I think it's funny that people who don't attend games know what's going on

Yes, I go to the pub as I'm no longer interested solely because of the AFL sides being in the comp.
And yes I went in the Jarman years just like I went in the McGregor years, the Hart years, the Flynn years, the Healy years and the McDermott years, all of that is irrelevant, the only relevance to me is the AFL clubs being involved.
Surely the people who no longer go have more of an idea of why they don't go than the people who still go?

No-one is arguing with you mate, you're welcome to go, a lot of my good friends still go regularly too.
My daughter goes every week and is there from 9am to 5pm in a voluntary basis helping South.

It should bother you though as the way the SANFL is going at the moment it will be dead in 10 years time.
