I am seeing this way too much.

Works both ways, only one person who can change it.

It goes both ways indeed. I have lived it for a year.

Sometimes a particular parties anxiety and insecurity has merit, sometimes not.

For better or for worse is exactly that. You marry a person for all their brilliant and beautiful attributes. You marry them for their flaws.

Specifically- If someone has high levels of anxiousness and is insecure in the relationship. find out why and what you can do to help. Mental health is not easy for a person to acknowledge, and quite often knowing you suffer from anxiety further compounds the problem as you feel like a nuisance.

If you see your partner could use the help of a professional, guide them to such help and support them through the process. My best mate has suffered from crippling anxiety surrounding mortality (his dad passed suddenly when he was 19). His lovely wife has guided him through the process of seeing specialists, and he will freely admit that she puts up with a lot, such as mood swings and short temperament, but for better or for worse.

Not all situations are the same, even mine was very different. I wholeheartedly agree that if things don't improve, you are entitle to seek happiness for yourself. What I don't like seeing/hearing is people complaining that their partner is insecure, anxious, controlling, but when asked what they themselves understand about mental health- they are simply dismissive of the subject because in their eyes, that is their partner's/friend's/family member's problem and not theirs. That ****s me.

yep for sure. but having a couple of mates who only see their kids maybe one weekend a fortnight plus a bit more in school holidays, i can understand why someone might "put up" with a bad relationship to see their kids, even if that is detrimental to everyone involved

Yeah, some have to sit there and cop it.

Some people don't quite understand what: 'For better or worse actually means'.

Everyone deserves the right to be happy though!

It's all too easy nowadays, apart form the costs, the standards of living in general have dropped considerably over time, marriage should be a life long commitment and people should remain who they are.

Maybe people enter into marriage too lightly?

Personally I don't believe it should be a lifelong commitment if it's just not going to work out. But what I do believe is you owe each other the effort to try and make it work. If you put in a genuine effort to fix whatever is wrong and it doesn't work out then you should be allowed to go your separate ways

Going through other stuff on my computer and I found this ripper quote from Robin Williams:

"Divorce, from the Latin word to, "Rip a man's genitals out through his wallet"
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I dont think its that, I think its just an age thing. I couldnt believe how easy it was to get a chick when I was single in my 40s and 9 times out of ten first dates result in a roll in the sack. And Ive never been divorced.

Walking out into my kitchen after beer & pizza night to find a sink full of dirty dishes. How does that even happen?

You eat pizza on a plate with knife and fork and drink beer from your mugs

Empty pizza box, and empty bottles I get. I ate the pizza straight out of the box!

Bottle of gatorade before you start, and another when you go to bed. No hangover everytime.

I usually do this. It lessens it for me but doesn't usually completely get rid of it

I did not do it this time though, and I am bloody rough today. Huge yiros and a bit of a kip on the train on the way home didn't help either.

Waiting for my son to have his daytime nap so I can have one too
