Blackwood on the 22nd Jan:

Course- great nick. Really couldnt fault it.

Driving- erratic to start but was OK from about 6 holes in.

Irons- Long Irons were servicable, Short irons were sprinkler like. Sprayed EVERYWHERE.

Chipping- Horrid. Maybe chipped one stone dead, the rest were way away.

Putting- Solid without actually holing much.

Take away- Round summed up best in my final 2 holes (8th and 9th- we played the back 9 first)

Hit the 8th (Par 3) in one- nearest the pin. Holed the Birdie putt.
9th- Annihilate a Drive straight down the middle to about 60m short. "I'm Back!"
Proceed to shank (yes SHANK- havent done one in about 10 years I reckon) the second BEHIND a tree in the right rough. Flop the 3rd up and over the green. 4th pulls up just on edge of the green then rolls to about 15ft. Roll the putt past and catches the edge of the hole. Safely in for 6 (scrub)

24 points. Score probably worse than the round felt, Lots of ones, many due to not being sure where I was hitting.

Gonna hit the range with the short irons and wedges. Preparation for the Group 4 Ambrose at Lake Albert in 2 weeks.

I'd be blaming the bloke who endorsed said buggy before the item itself.

First hit today in months... Royal Mt Barker. 4 ball better ball. Me and my mate had 42 pts. His first contribution was on the 7th hole FFS! He did manage a birdie on the 16th which was 5 pts. Overall struck the ball ok. Chipping and putting was shyte. Normal CM golf!

Ended with a 98 off the stick.
My round was shot after a 9 on the 4th.
drive was good, handy 2nd shot that left me around 80m. Had to play around the overhanging branches which is why it was that far out.
In between clubs so hit a PW and the flag was at the back top tier. 1/2 to 3/4 swing and creamed it through the the back. Duffed the chip out.
Then tried to hit a soft 7i with a putting stroke to get it over the rough and roll.....But then I hit that too well and it rolled past the flag and down the hill and off the green on the bottom tier....

But I picked up after that and went 3 pars from the next 4 holes.

A couple of things are starting to piss me off at The Vines.

A couple of times we've been spoken too for 'slow play' which wasn't the case, and resulted in an apology after the rounds when it's been made clear it wasn't our group.
Yesterday whilst enjoying my brekky, someone called the pro shop to complain of slow play. The lad came out to see what was going on and it was clear, there was no slow play through the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th but there was on the 13th....
I told him there are too many Nazis out there who are too quick to pull the trigger and complain and it's happening far too often.
Yesterday was stroke round, we started around 11-30 and went through in 4.25hrs..... Pleasantly surprising.

The other debacle is one of the playing partners, he can hit a ball a long way, but when it's wrong, it's sliced over to the next fairway.
Twice in the last 3 weeks, groups playing that hole have either played his ball as their own, or just picked it up.....FFS, he has his balls clearly marked.

The slow play call is usually a farce. We teed off on the 10th at Blackwood and by my own admission we were off the pace as we had spent a decent amount of time looking for balls.... we got to the first and were pleasantly surprised that the groups booked there to play had waited for us- A calm "Your other lads are getting ahead" was all we needed to get us moving. Not an 'official' complaint followed by a lecture from the pro shop.

Par round

1st hole wipe, lost ball, didn't look too hard but as it's Par whoopy doo.

Then we started to find some rhythm heading.
A half on the 2nd, followed by 4 successive Pars.

+2 after nine.

10th hole. Back of the green. Horrible putting, wipe.
11th drive into trees recovered a half.
12th hole, had a 2m putt for a half but spat it.
13th Par 5, played it beautifully, even with the drive hitting a tree and coming back 30m. Had a birdie chance that missed by a 20c piece.

-1 back 9 for a +1 overall

Leader is +9

Tried a new grip, stance with the Driver which for the most part worked a treat.

My regular group just booked in for Flaggy next sat morning.

Been years since I've been over there, what should I be expecting?

Played Flaggy.

Course is ok, but the bunkers are just horrid.
Enjoyed the greens.

Started on the par 3 10th.
Had a 4. Not bad.
Then hit a slight fade on the 2nd and couldn't find the ball.
Hit the same shot on the 3rd hole, lost that ball but found my ball from the 2nd hole which wasn't in a bad spot.

After that I tanked it. Didn't bother putting it out for the 1 pointers.

Did hit a few good shots to get me back out there.
Par on the par 3 - 3rd from a solid up and down was the main highlight.

Monthly medal next week so somehow need to turn it around.

At least you are playing MT79.... I've checked out a few courses over here and yet to select my new home. My clubs are still in SA. Mrs Corona over here for the long weekend. I will be getting her to bring them over. Keen for a hit!

My biggest issue is I don't spend the full 5mins looking for my ball, I have a squiz in the general area where I think it is and move on, I mean imagine 16 holes of looking for a ball for 5 mins....After every 3rd shot....lol
