With the match on a Tuesday (ie not on a weekend / long weekend) not many will be away.

It doesn't take many people to gave a good atmosphere at Unley, a crowd 6-7K would be awesome.

PLUS it should also mean a good income generator for Sturt.

Why should the Premier give up a home game with it's resultant gate, bar & canteen income?

Instead they should be rewarded with hosting the biggest game of the minor round...... good move for mine.

You make some solid arguments there Phil. I reckon it's a weigh up between what you've said v loss of prestige and possibly a smaller crowd.
If it does result in a capacity Unley crowd of around 7,000 I might be inclined to change my view. Wait and see I guess.

I couldn't think of anything worse than 7000 at Unley Oval. It's uncomfortable enough when there's over 3K!
I'm getting so grumpy in my old age.

You do have a point though. Especially when the over zealous security evict people from around near the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter after they have been there all day

I've stood there often, usually when therisingblues junior has migrated over from the play ground. Usually there's a bunch of people there.
Never been asked to move.

I'm sorry, but Sturt v WWT at Unley won't be "the biggest game of the minor round" and it won't attract near 7k people.

Sorry to hear it Jim.
My guess would be perhaps there was a bigger crowd than usual? I really don't see why it should be of limits.

Interesting assertion Spargo.
What leads you to that conclusion?

90 games in the SANFL minor round, Phil has already called St v WWT as being the biggest of the lot.
I'll have the other 89 to choose from.

So your reasoning is based on the fact that it's impossible to predict which one will be the best game out of 90, so therefore he must be wrong?
I thought you were going to produce some inside knowledge about so and so v what's their name at such and such.

St v wwt won't be the worst game. I can list 38 other games that don't deserve an audience.

Not enough Eagles fans to warrant it. The SANFL didn't want a repeat of last year's fiasco.

Granted this years match wasn't good, but there were more Eagles supporters than Westies fans at the game. Given Sturt is competing next season that should automatically guarantee a bigger crowd.

Sturt v Eagles on Anzac Day at AO would be a different story. The SANFL have missed an opportunity to promote the league if this is their thinking.

I totally agree, it's perceived because the Eagles are involved that the crowd will be shit. Where as in reality it's quite the opposite. I always see a strong following of Eagles supporters at all grounds. Our fans do travel to watch us play.

Clubs normally sort them out early in the new year.

I'd expect to hear something in the next couple of weeks.
