I posted in the cd v full timers thread, but thought worthy of this thread also.

Haha just fired up. It was great to listen to.

Also MMM are talking about it now. Roo seems a bit miffed that Roy was so sarcastic about. Roo and Ditz asked the question is it as bad as Roy makes it out to be?

At least they acknowledged that yes this is a change of the rules and that the rules should have stood.

Then Roo of course needs to tow the AFC line so he finished with well he has played x games in the sanfl and only 2nl in the afl. So he just finishes with a back flip.

True mmm style, but geez I loved Roys brutal honesty.

Glenelg had a player (forgotten who) miss out on playing in a reserves premiership a few years back. He played every reserves game up to the finals, then made his debut in the league in a preliminary final loss, thereby disqualifying himself for the reserves grand final the following week.

Them's the rules. If the dinkum clubs can uphold them, then so can the clowns. Better still, let them find another league that doesn't mind bending its rules to accommodate them.

Lochie McGregor, 2009 under Rub-a-dub-dub

The league has relaxed it rules since then though, as I understand it.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

So relaxed that they can't even be bothered to tell the umpires which day to turn up to a reserves fixture

A certain radio station that played parts of the Roy interview this morning, have had a phone call from the SANFL. They are not happy!

If you guys are bitching about letting a player play for his SANFL side when he has played 89% of his games there this year, you need to get a life. Rule or not, he deserves his spot in the SANFL side regardless. Get over it and move on. Sounds like making excuses for a loss already.

This is the point of conjecture. I don't really have a problem with someone that's spent that much time playing in that comp, being allowed to play finals.

But there's a popular school of thought basically saying "Rules are rules, otherwise why have them?" which is also hard to argue against.

How much time has Seedsman spent in the SANFL? Would he be allowed to play SANFL finals if the Crows AFL team had finished their season?

Doesn't matter how much time he has spent on the SANFL, the rules are put there for a reason. They are playing in our comp and should stick to the rules, they already have everything handed to them on a platter

I'm sure the 50k each SANFL club receives from the Crows arrives on a similar platter

Another question - does anyone know whether the SANFL clubs had a say in the drafting of the Crows' finals qualification rules, or were they implemented unilaterally by the league?

Presumably the clubs would've had an interest, given they are likely to be on the receiving end of such decisions as Centrals are now.

Jim, you are incorrect, as Roy said ' we should be grateful for them letting us play in their competition'

It's not our competition, it is now theirs

MW; spot on. This sooking is absolutely laughable. The point is that what has happened is actually allowed for by the very rules people are demanding be upheld. The rules allow for an application for a permit in exactly this type of situation, where a player has played just about all year in the SANFL and simply came in to replace a suspended player. We are not talking about someone who has played 1 or 2 games here. The ability to apply for a permit allows for common sense to prevail in exactly a situation such as this. If we handed out premierships for whinging, Centrals and some of their supporters would have that one in the bag. But as they don't, I look forward to them being sent packing by 3 on Saturday.
No Surrender!
