Yeah and the Hawks don't spend any coin. We are literally the only club in the AFL who spends $$$. Dumbest logic on earth.

No you are the only ones that consistently have been able to get the biggest names in the game over the last 25 years and we all know how that happened, Thats had a full stop put on it now that little brother gets all the help

Biggest names. Out of that list you out up 2 of them were/are superstars.

We couldn't even trade for a year for doing nothing wrong and we are currently sitting second. Our list will be perfectly fine going into the future.

Excellent list as it stands and going forward. The Academy comes in pretty bloody handy though.

Brereton - past it
kickett - Got dropped from a gf side. Not even close to a superstar
, Lockett- superstar
, Schwass - gun but not superstar status
, Everitt - not a SS
Hall, - was trouble when he came to us. Not a ss
Tippet - potential superstar. But wasn't when we got him
Franklin - superstar

They were all lured there on big contracts and dollars. You'll note i didnt include the likes of Kennedy, Mumford etc who were yet top establish themselves.
Apparently Franklin gets a massive pay rise next year hence looks like we'll get one back from you for a change.
Hopefully its just the start of major salary cap problems

Doesn't mean it's not an advantage that most clubs don't have

It's good for the northern states to have it

That's not what we were debating though lol, and I'm sure all clubs that benefit from it, are going to support it ;)

Any opposition supporter can put an asterix to anything. The Swans get COLA to take on Rugby League. I wish they would just come out and admit this. But it's an attempt in growing the game. In 1925 the same thing happened. Hawthorn, as later results would show, were not good enough to be in the league but because they wanted a team from that part of town you got the nod.

Hawthorn got another leg up when the VFL gave your club a juicy zone. The current day Hawks have benefitted immensely from the introduction of two new teams which diluted the standard of the league and distributed a large majority of draft picks with the two McFootball 'clubs' instead of better players coming through to teams that might have been able to challenge. As an added bonus the Cats were starting to retire and Collingwood shot itself in the foot. Asterisks everywhere! It's the way of the fan.

Your clubs choice, We both started our run at a similar time, 07 as opposed to 08, we sustained it you didnt, You make excuses, we just get on with winning games of footy and premierships. You threw in the towel because we were too good and started retiring players prematurely to maybe have another chance at it sooner than the norm, only trouble is now you will run into GWS. Its why you'll always be the bridesmaid.

He does make a point that if your topping up for the now you will run into the GWS who despite the piss weak effort on the weekend are building into a powerhouse.

Depends on who you ask. For those that need the translation, that was what I was on about before. Any fan could put an asterisk on almost any premiership.

So let me get this right all of the swans success or longevity of continually playing finals is only because of cola??? Nothing to do with good list management, solid work at the draft by getting quality with late picks, picking up players from other clubs who struggled and in turn turned into quality for us (Kennedy, Richards and Mumford just to name 3)?

Yep. Same with the Hawks and their bulltish flags. The Lions only won because of the merger and their brand of COLA and the Cats only won because of the Father-Son rule and because the weapon worked there. The Eagles only won their flag because of the fizz. No such thing as a legitimate premiership ha ha.
