Couldn't agree more with the criticism...absolute joke and i hope it was not asked for by Port

Err wouldn't the state government be better off spending the 50 k on something really radical, like, perhaps the ******* trains!

50k comp while many rec and community centres around the state are having to close their doors.

Or as others have said, how about spending that on the train system.

These blokes get more f**king handouts than nearly all non profitable organisations get ffs.

Would love to know the rationale behind that. Can't imagine how Port were financially hurt by some late trains.

Come on now, surely port will put the money back into the community. It's not like they are going to blow it on fireworks or anything.

Might be hard to fathom, but the existence of Port Adelaide (and Adelaide) contribute to creating more revenue to more businesses and the state than most other organisations.

The government has a vested interest to keep those sides happy and keep them well supported - who else is going to attract 30k + people into the city to splash their cash every week? Not to mention anyone who might travel from interstate.

$50k would get a lot of fortune cookies, sadly though it would also buy a sh!t load of Apricot slice as well.

The funniest part last night on AA was one Port fan ringing up and getting upset that every time there is criticism of a club for anything it is always Port...and she was borderline crying about it.
The thing that gets me is the fans pay more for their ticket to allow for the transport levy for "free" trains and buses, yet Port get the refund not the fan. If I were a Port fan I would be pissed.

I don't dispute anything you say here Zartan. I DO have a problem that the state government would rather "splash" 50K on a feel good exercise, than address the actual problem. It's OUR money (yours & mine) they are playing with here. I will go further. What happens the next time the trains fail to run, and it impacts Port (or Adelaide) fans.... do they send another $50k that way?

I can only hope that if Port do chose to spend the 50K on fireworks & light shows, that for the sake of their fans, they wait until post game. That way those commuting by train will at least arrive at AO in time to see that.

I agree, it makes no sense to me why they gave them the 50k, seems a waste of $$, but don't really think it's fair to launch into Port like it's their fault they're getting the money lol - I guess I was just trying to some how justify the reasoning

I am not launching into Port at all. If a state government is stupid enough to just give $50K to my club, sure we would take it too.

I hope we reconsider our stance. One, tell the government to keep the money or two, and preferably, give half the $50k to our Foodbank charity and the other $25k to the Little Hero's Foundation. It's ridiculous to think giving us $50k compensates people for missing 10 minutes of the footy.

I walked in at the 3 minute mark, not all that bad considering the goings on in Syria etc.....life could be a little tougher.

Absolute waste of money.
PAFC. Forever.

Wouldn't mind guessing there was a reason that $50k was announced and it's all to do with FSA.
However, I don't think it worked as the grill is securely on and Jay is getting very hot.

As he should be... a decent opposition would be making inroads....
