R11 - WWT Eagles v Central at Woody Oval

Postby Dutchy » Thu Jun 09, 2016 9:32 pm

EAGLES
Woodville-West Torrens will be boosted by the return of star midfielder Jared Petrenko for the match against Central at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Sunday.
A late withdrawal last Saturday after injuring his back in the warm-up, Petrenko has been named on a four-man extended interchange bench to face the Bulldogs.
The former Crow has been joined in the 22-man squad by potential debutant Ethan Haylock, the son of Eagles great Gary Haylock, who played 204 matches for Woodville and the Eagles between 1984 and 1994.
Originally from PHOS Camden, Ethan Haylock – who measures in at 177cm and 75kg – has progressed through the junior grades at Oval Avenue.
Dual premiership player Luke Jarrad will miss his first IGA League match since Round 16, 2012 after suffering a slight hamstring strain against Norwood last Saturday.
The Eagles will be looking to put in a strong performance as they host several past premiership players for their Premiers Day, which will chiefly honour the 2006 League premiership team.

After playing in the Under-18 Macca’s Cup last year, the 18-year-old has been steadily building in the Bulldogs’ Reserves this year.
He has been joined in the 23-man squad by defender David Haydon, who has been named on a half-back flank.
Five players have been named on the extended interchange bench with two to be cut before the bounce.

We're better with Haydon in the side.
Makes the occasional cock-up, but has a go at breaking lines and runs hard.

That's a hell of an achievement by Jarrad who must be disappointed to be missing this game. Eagles too polished and too strong for a Centrals side looking to secure a top 5 berth
WWT by a comfortable 30-35 points

I think the Eagles probably get up, but reckon the Dogs will have their chances

Good promotion for what hopefully will be a great game. Eagles should expect significant intensity and speed from Roy's boys, good test.

Seems like there are two Centrals teams this year; the one that plays at Elizabeth and the one who plays away. Having said that, Eagles really starting to click in to gear after a shaky start.
No Surrender!

Centrals were the better team in the first quarter they put on a lot of pressure .
After 1/4 time they relaxed
Eagles were not great by they certainly improved after 1/4 time

No excuses, smashed by a team that worked harder round the packs, ran harder to position, worked harder off the ball and had far better disposal. Pitiful effort.

Well done, Eagles, that was a good win.
Us? We were pitiful. For the first time in my supporting history, I left the game early.
I've never done it before, but this effort was disgraceful.
Where was the chase and harassment after quarter-time? Our ball use was terrible.
Our inside-50 movement was like a porn genre - weird insertions.
Then to give up 10 goals in the last term was just the 'icing on the cake'.
We've generally played one poor quarter a game. This week we played three really, really bad quarters.

Great show by the Eagles, though. It was good to see some old faces celebrating a premiership and my eldest enjoyed the bouncy castle.
It felt like there was a mass of kids there. Hopefully they stay interested in the comp.

Not interested.

Also, your canteen needs more donuts. My kid wanted one and you'd run out by quarter time. Pies were nice and hot, though.
