Bonner Johnson impey Harvey wines clurey shaw are the top 50 picks over the past 4 years.

Pretty average other than wines

Wines top shelf, Bonner and Johnson yet to play so how you can call them average is astonishing, Impey has something to offer and has played some good football, Clurey biding his time behind Carlile, Trengove and Hombsch, so Harvey and Shaw the only two spanners.
PAFC. Forever.

Tough on Bonner. Kid drafted Oct 2015, straight out of U/18's yet to play a game.... lets not judge him just yet.

I am sure Boon will elaborate on the rest....

The biggest development failure is John Butcher......how he has been in an elite environment for so long yet still can't kick over a stack of soft drink cans baffles me.

They haven't played a game yet in a team that you yourself has said has a ton of injuries. Bonner seems to be close but i haven't heard anything about any of the others?

Just a friendly reminder that this thread is about Coaches nearing the end of their use by date. Lists debates, while related is starting to drift a bit. Plus if I insert enough smiley faces, apparently that makes me a good bloke.. :D :D :D :D :D

I'm pretty sure they thought we'd get some compensation for getting Monfries on board prior to the scandal breaking, not so.

So if you're highlighting our middle tier ( Amon, Ah Chee, Neade, Impey, Colquhoun etc ) then is that the recruiting or the development? I'm pretty sure we all see glimpses of quality from all of the ones I've mentioned above yet not anything consistent.

More about the coaching and where they're played than recruiting IMO.

Either/ either, it both stems from the coaching fraternity, they ultimately choose who gets recruited and then have to mould them to the fit.
Our middle tier is too big and have too many project players, throwing them in for a week here and there over the past couple of years done nothing for their development and most have struggled to give us any belief that they will amount to at least a solid B Grader.

I hope that I'm wrong, they've been very disappointing after over achieving in 2014 and promising a bright future with their glimpses of brilliance.

It's all relative IMO. List management plays the most important role for the coach.

I can see merit in Buckley as he has a young list and he is developing their list for a crack in 2-4 years time.

Hardwick is the complete opposite, no idea how he escapes so much of the spotlight. Where are the Richmond kids coming thru?

Leppitsch should be the first.

I continually hear his lament of skill errors and mistakes but he's been saying that for 2 years and it hasn't improved.

The most troubling aspect of our performances is that the losses have mostly been 10-goal plus thrashings.

He inherited a shit list and they still haven't recovered from the Fevola mistake.

They have showed glimpses of brilliance over the past couple of years but as you pointed out, they can roll over and play dead very easily.

They severely lack depth and need their best 22 available to be competitive, there's enough to like out there, they need to look outside their own 4 walls now for their next phase, they need Paul Roos at the helm.

In the NEAFL the Swans sit a top with 7 wins from 7 games, 273%! The Giants, 4-3 with 119%, the Bears 0-7 44%.

If and when Buckley goes at Collingwood.... Does Eddie go with him?

Did 4 chins Maguire spend all his credits anointing Buckley?

Baby and bath water perhaps?

Has there ever been a more overrated coach than Roos? Did a great job at Sydney but seriously, he is not the messiah. Melbourne have done stuff all under his charge.

Melbournes rabblesness has decreased some what. I think they have improved under him. I mean look at the mess he was left with.
