well you sold bale for 100 million + , and then spent every penny ( almost every penny ) on players the same transfer window , yet only finished 6th or close to it that season.
Spending over 100 million you would think something higher then the normal would be performing well above what you normally would be !

They didn't get close to spending it all but yeah we did lose a lot of dosh on players like Soldado and bloody Adebayor's pay packet.
But if you check out spending over the last few years on players we are just middle of the road.
Hopefully we're on track now with the youngest squad in the league and continue to punch above our weight

Yep. most of us do. I have no idea whether Klopp will be the saviour many are touting, knowing our club I doubt it lol, but hopefully it's enough to get some atmosphere back at Anfield. When you have an underperforming manager as Rodgers had become, all you can do is move him on and put someone new in the chair and given the options available I think we've chosen a pretty decent bloke. Now to see if he can build a group that can let their football do the talking. Only time will tell I guess.

Unfortunately the transfer window is still a while away. Rodgers brought in so many questionable transfers, kind of reminds me of Wenger from 07-12. Most of the time i was scratching my head going really. Wenger never paid as much as Rodgers was though. Im not sure how'll he go either, when he started losing all his stars at Dortmund they struggled big time. going to be interesting

I was worried when Suarez left that we'd do what Tottenham did when Bale moved on - Spend a shedload on average or overpriced players - And that's pretty much what happened. Said at the time I would have preferred to see us bring in 2-3 established, expensive players rather than 8 younger players hoping a couple develop into stars.

There's more ability in the squad than has been shown imho, but there will need to be some casualties along the way too. It's also a squad that, Milner aside, is devoid of leadership. It's what tends to happen when your transfer policy revolves around under 25's

I dont mind occasionally, love the Euro's though so watched a stack of qualies.
Good to see the Welsh qualify for their first major tourny since 1958 and the Northern Irish since 1986.
With England topping their group and the Republic guaranteed a play off spot at minimum it was only Scotland the big disappointment yet again

Im not convinced Rodgers is a spud .. No question he had some failings, but also had plenty of positives too. There's also the ambiguity of the Transfer committee at Liverpool that meant he didn't always get the player he wanted, and in fact had to work with some players that others decided were a better fit.

You can't be all bad if you can get your club inches away from an EPL title.

Suarez missed 8 games of the title-run season through suspension, and he was there the season before and even under Dalglish, and it was Rodgers who brought about the structure that allowed him to have his first ever prolific season. Post that season Sturridge had been missing about %80 of the time. Rodgers also had a well past his prime Gerrard.

He really didn't have a lot of "star power" to work with. Missing out on Sanchez was a big blow for him.

Not really, he missed 8 games like I said and Sturridge came up big in his absence. Rogers style of football (along with LS natural ability of course) allowed Suarez to reach the heights he hit, given he'd never hit them before.

Not that it means anything of note but an interesting titbit in that Spurs have now supplies the most English national players (74) out of all clubs.
