We have had a few years to plan for this, I wouldn't be surprised if we could match it

For mine, I think they should target Jordan Murdoch as the player and settle on a second round pick to go with him if they can't get a first round pick and Murdoch.

Thoughts?

If we can match it, would have thought a first round plus a player would be the minimum we would ask

If reports are correct that Geelong's pay scale won't allow anyone ( and rightly so ) be paid more than your top earner, Selwood, I'd imagine, it wouldn't be more than $750-800k which I think Adelaide could match if they had to.

They've got a lot of mid range earners and not many top line as far as pay scale I wouldn't think.

Now that Trigg and his draft skeletons in the closet are gone Adelaide might be a little more willing to play hard ball.

How do crows fans view the possibility of Worsfold taking the Essendon job, presumably he was offered or in line for the crows gig.... Is that a slap in the face to the crows list? Surely the crows list (& potential in the short term) is more attractive than the Bombers.... or is it coin?

Discuss...

1 - He's learnt the fishbowl environment of a two team town is demanding beyond belief
2 - His family would perhaps think Melbourne it more attractive than Adelaide
3 - Money
4 - Perhaps Essendon were willing to commit to a Roos/Goodwin type set up that might only mean a two year senior gig
5 - Money
6 - Adelaide, while still playing, might not have arrived at their model as Essendon had in #4

And they just (start of the year) signed him to a 4 year deal...

He's been average at times, perhaps lucky to be in the side some would say.

1 - He's learnt the fishbowl environment of a two team town is demanding beyond belief - He would already know about this from WA!
2 - His family would perhaps think Melbourne it more attractive than Adelaide - More opportunity for kids as well perhaps?
3 - Money - Yes
4 - Perhaps Essendon were willing to commit to a Roos/Goodwin type set up that might only mean a two year senior gig - who is Goodwin in this scenario?
5 - Money - Umm yes again
6 - Adelaide, while still playing, might not have arrived at their model as Essendon had in #4

He also has mates at Essendon doesn't he?

I honestly don't know what to make of the crows coaching situation. Campo has done well, but Roo was right, even if he was taken out of context, it is easy to be seduced by the form under a caretaker coach.

I thought there would be some more rumblings than there is now. I guess it is a somewhat unique situation as it is rare to be looking for a coach after playing in the second week of finals.

Wouldn't be surprised if the crows went for an experienced assistant again, like dew or sumich, but I also hope we throw everything at worsfold too

For me, the hype of Worsfold is very similar to Melbourne getting Roos and how did that work out...

4 years!...exactly why only A graders should get more than a 3 year deal max...

1 - I know, that's what I'm saying.
2 - Perhaps, they'd be teenagers at least I'd imagine, so yes, probably.
4 - Could be a raft of options, but I would think someone he has worked closely with before. Sumich, McKenna, Pyke....

Agreed....in principle. There are exceptions in any club, I don't think McKay is that person though.

lowest disposal count since his first season at the crows.

His form has been very average this year. In the past has been serviceable, and I would guess he wouldn't be on big coin, but the security would have appealed to him.

given we were playing hardball with someone like Tom Lynch over the length of his contract, I can only assume mackay isnt on much coin.

If he is, it is clearly a pretty big mistake.

$400k pa according to reports, so on above average coin, which makes it hard to trade him also, unless Crows pay some of his contract.
