South Adelaide Football Club re-signs Senior Coach Brad

South Adelaide Football Club is excited to announce the re-signing of Senior Coach Brad Gotch until the end of 2017.
“Brad has been a fantastic addition to our club and the progress he has made with the playing group in his time with the Panthers has been exciting to watch,” said SAFC Chief Executive Officer Wayne Peters.

“Brad himself has said that this playing group is not far away from tasting the ultimate success and we are delighted to see him commit to the Panthers for a further two years.

“We have full confidence in Brad as Senior Coach to continue the development strategies implemented for our Club. We believe that maintaining consistency in our coaching group is key to giving ourselves the best opportunity to maximize the potential of our exciting playing group.

“We now look forward to Brad continuing with his successful coaching platform for the next two years.”
Since joining SAFC in 2014 Gotch has a coaching record of 19 wins, 13 losses and 1 draw. In 2014 he guided the Panthers to the Preliminary Final and third place on the SANFL ladder – Souths best finish in 24 seasons.

He currently has South Adelaide sitting at 5th position on the ladder and vying for its first consecutive finals campaign since 1991/1992.
Under his tutelage the club has seen three players drafted to the AFL; Caleb Daniel (Western Bulldogs), Keegan Brooksby (Gold Coast Suns) and Tom Fields (Carlton).

 Remind me again. How many premierships has he won?

Not saying he's a good coach - but best in the league!

Don't think you can define premierships as a KPI for coaching credentials. FFS some of those Glory years Centrals teams didn't need a coach.....

I think Brad extracts the most out of what playing stock at his disposal. He took a team from near the bottom and played in a Preliminary final (all things being equal they played well enough to make the GF). No longer the Easy beats and they have clawed back respect from opposition sides.

For the cattle he has ... He is the best coach in the league.

Think best coach also should include the way he conducts himself ( like in the media ) with the way he presents himself and communicates too.
Very professional in his approach.

Great to have him until the end of 2017. He has some things in process and unfinished business to complete 8)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Great result. Although at times the game style isn't the most attractive (aka "modern" footy), you know as a supporter you're going to watch a united, committed and disciplined team giving 100%. That certainly hasn't been the case with South sides of years past.

I'm not sure you can count Ben Warren in that list just yet Phil. He inherited a pretty strong list with good depth and a pretty good footballing set up. The Redlegs were the reigning premiers afterall.
I think it would be better to judge him over the next couple of seasons starting with how well the Legs finish this year. Given where he started from even a fairly average coach would take two or three years to bugger everything up.
And before all you Redleg fans fire up, I'm not suggesting he is just average, I'm just saying it is too soon to start calling him of of the best

Thats correct , I passed a similar comment previously about Warren.

And Phil, you can't have more than 2 in the top two coaches . It doesn't fit.

Gotch is doing a remarkable job with an injury hit South. They're depth probably isn't quite as good as a couple of teams yet, but they seem so well organized, disciplined, and they stick to their plans. They are making a lot of people take notice at how they are developing.
