So Hird spends first half coaching from boundary with no headset to communicate upstairs.
Now he is in the box, no headset and Harvey on boundary directing traffic

Some great calls here on the forums in recent weeks. Port are a completely different team with only 1 of either Lobbe or Ryder playing. Be interesting to see how they go once both back in.

I really think that he needs to play forward of the half back line, at least Port have enough time to cover his turnovers, it's a real shame as he's such a goer.

Where does a result like that leave the Bombers?

Is Hird the right man for the job and has the ASADA crap taken it's toll on the playing group with the coach included? I thought they were better than that and Geelong are definitely playing above themselves.

Players are cooked mentally but Hird probably isnt the man for the job. His selection policy is quite poor, is showing too much faith in the guys who stood by him. Several senior players should of been dropped months ago. There are kids banging down the door at ressies level and have been for weeks, needs to swing the axe at the senior brigade. Tonight finally looked like he lost patience when he dragged the pathetic Bellchambers at half time

Daniher kicking 0.4 in the first 15 minutes didnt help. Scoreboard pressure makes so much differance. Too many turnovers and a non existant forward line. Need to play the kids and hope for a early draft pick

The Cats didnt play above themselves.
If they did then we are worse than I thought.

the Bombrrs had all the early play and as Jim said just failed to goal.
cats went forward on the counter attack and goaled.

The skill level was horrid.
The bombers at certain points of the match just applied zero pressure.

Almost like basketball, they let the Cats have easy posession till just over halfway.

the Cats weren't that good and against most other sides would have been in big trouble.

power v cats next friday night could be a very one-sided affair as the Power seem to have got back to basics

I couldn't disagree more. I think Eddie is an excellent commentator, just don't let him near a Pies game. You can hear his passion for the game when he calls. However if I was a Blackbirds fan I'd probably agree because he was barracking for Carlton. A quick look at the ladder might explain that.

even as a Carlton fan I love Eddie... what he has done for the Pies is amazing. Love hearing him commentate and yesterday was more about the underdog (bottom team in the comp) having a red hot crack against a top 4ish team.... could have been anyone down the bottom and he would have been carrying on...

Good commentary, probably not... entertaining, heck yeah.

Sure beats Riccutio mumbling through a call... now thats crap....

Usually I don't mind him that much, but he was openly barracking for carlton, and I suspect you are right about the reason.
