Yeah, puzzled by that one also.

Well done to plugger (even if I think the 'legend' category isn't really necessary). Certainly provided me with a lot of footy memories when I was a youngster.

Perhaps it's a part of including an indigenous player aswell as an international player?

Although I rate Micky O, I thought there'd be a few more inductees before him, the same said for Bell, an honest player at best who got the most out of himself.
Nevertheless, I watched the replay this morning and was thoroughly entertained, it had a bit of everything in there, some great anecdotes.

Peter Bell has an outstanding record. 2 premierships, b&fs with both North and Freo, All Aust, 286 games.

22 blokes win a premiership every year as well as make the All-Australian side, every year there have been at least 14 B&F's in the AFL, although he's had an admirable career, I'd say there's at least a hundred blokes that could've easily slotted him before him.

I think you hit the nail on the head there LM, gets in because he is of some other decent.
286 games, no biggy, dont they have AFL life membership for certain amount of games played? HOF should be for the real outstanding contributions.

Players in bold I believe have gone in to early and should now only start to be considered as long as they have been retired for 10 years

Lindsay Head, Darren Jarman and Tom Mackenzie are in there as players too
John Cahill, Jack Oatey and Fos Williams as coaches
Ken Aplin as an umpire
Max Basheer, Thomas HIll, Bob McLean as administrators

I'm only getting these out of the 2008 AFL book, so there maybe more after that

If you are going to claim Len Fitzgerald, Wayne Carey, Nathan Buckley & Andrew McLeod, then we should also include Vic Cumberland, Hayden Bunton Snr, Hayden Bunton Jnr, Michael Long, Murray Weideman and even Phillip Matson & Royce Hart
