Why because some clubs cant get their act together and put a genuine pathway in place for their juniors into senior cricket?

To be fair to Woodville they got their junior area raped by WT when boundaries were changed a few years back. They have got a pretty small metro area where not much cricket has been played. I'd be putting it back on the SACA development staff to work harder with the clubs.

You hear a lot about there being too many teams, but maybe there are too many grades?

Mind you Woodville could just hang out at the Gillespie Centre and pick up all the decent kids in the SACA 19s like TTG are.

They have poached Hutchinson from WT and Page from Bays, both from Under 19 State squad, know Sleepy had lots to do with poaching Hutchy.

On WT zone, actually have the smallest zone of any Club, just work harder in those zones than lots of Clubs.

Absolutely correct about WT and with the lowest proportion of 12-18 year old cricketers of any metro zone in the state. Makes their success across junior grades in the past 10 or so year quite remarkable.

Sturt D grade bowled out for 20 against WT today...ouch. Another nail in the coffin for D grade cricket perhaps?

Location, location, location. Sandwiched between St Michael's and Henley High together with excellent relationship with Yorke Peninsula country zone and of course some excellent people involved with the junior set up gives a formula for success. A long way from the old days at Kings Reserve, thankfully.

Isn't 90 overs enough?

Non compulsory declarations in A & B Grade. If you back your bowlers to take 10 wickets in about 80 overs then good luck to you. Also under the new points system if you don't bowl them out then the first innings points are halved

Jeepers….. my comment re clubs getting their act together, may have been taken out of context somewhat. I wasn’t having a go at Woodville or any club and I acknowledge the difficulties some clubs face. However with good management I feel most clubs should be able to field 4 competitive senior sides which includes a pathway for their juniors into senior cricket via the lower grades.

As for recruiting players we aren’t the first and we won’t be the last side to recruit a player……

Would of thought Virginia to Brighton Road might be a bit of a stretch 3 times a week so TTG a logical option, nice to see a club take the interests of a player into consideration when having to reluctantly approve a clearance

Agree with that Hound, good of the Bays to clear him. He left on good terms, and it was a distance thing. Heard Northerns thought they had the young lad all sewn up, had been speaking to Cozzy and was coming, only for TTG to get him at the last minute. Wont see a lot of him this year with College cricket and two State Carnivals (Under 17 and 19), but a great prospect for them in the future.

Pretty tough call! He did well in the Shield game. Hughes back in I guess and someone had to go.

Shame that the injuries seem to be following Putland into another season.

Interested to see how Worrall goes. Is an 'old school' bowler; angled run up, drags the back foot, swings them, classical side on action. Very smooth. After seeing Chadd swing them around last week I reckon Worrall is a good selection here. More effective on AO than the tall, hit-the-deck type bowlers.
