Had an electrician here for an hour, charged $176 for labour alone. Crazy.

Has it been less than 24 hours?

IF yes, you have no right to be shitty. People have other stuff to do and can't drop everything for you.

If it's been more than 24 hours, do your nut

Well it depends on what the original call was about.

If he had just declared a bomb threat then 24 hours wouldn't be appropriate I'd imagine, but if it was about getting a quote then I'd agree.

That can't be true.

As a guide, J-Mac Electrical in Brompton who did a job for me recently charged $80 an hour including GST.
A local bloke in the hills I used until he retired recently was $80 per hour plus GST.

I expected around the $80-90 mark but was shocked at the price. Reckon he was there 50 minutes, had two very basic jobs. Another $120 in parts too which would have cost about $20

Call out fee is usually worth 1 hour before actually showing up. Then they were there for 1 hour as well....

I noticed this the other day. They had a full length story about a girl who got attacked by a shark - only at the very end did they say it was a 1 metre shark!

Contrasting with that, I flipped over to sbs world news and they had a really interesting and sad story about the normal everyday citizens of Aleppo, which is right on the front line of the ISIS vs Syrian government conflict - one dude is living in a half finished apartment block because he had to flee his other house. They also showed some students of the local uni, and how they tried to have some sense of normality, even though less than 10km away there was fighting - they were all going to a club and dancing etc - but it was in the day because it was too dangerous to go out at night.

But yep, some 14 year old who coped a nip on the foot from a gummy shark is much more important.

Victoria Bitter ads

U2's shameless marketing putting their shite music on everyone's iPhone and playing their crap song on commercial tv during adverts.

A few years ago when the band's then-recent album achieved unexpectedly low sales, the pillock lead singer publically grizzled that it was because of piracy and free downloads.

It must cause a severe amount of cognitive dissonance inside his sanctimonious skull to find that he now has to force his music onto other people, and that most of them don't want it.

Neither of the guys I mentioned charge a call out fee.
It is the big companies that use that technique to ramp up the cost.
I always use individual tradies never the big companies that spend money advertising on TV.
