Clown indeed

HAWTHORN premiership mentor Alastair Clarkson has fired back at claims he will quit the Hawks to join the Adelaide Football Club next year.

Clarkson’s remarks followed Magarey Medallist and inaugural Crows player Andrew Jarman declaring Clarkson would be presented as Adelaide’s new coach on Tuesday on radio TripleM.

“To the clown Jarman in Adelaide - not true, I am not going anywhere,” Clarkson said on the Channel Nine Footy Show’s grand final special in Melbourne.

So the choices are
Alastair Clarkson.....no
John Longmire.........no
Chris Scott................no
Ross Lyon.................no
Ken Hinkley..............no
Bomber Thompson.no
Brad Scott.................no
Damian Hardwick....no
That's the best 8 coaches out of the equation.
John Worsfold...........no
Rodney Eade.............God help us
Brett Ratten...............maybe
So who's left. Untried senior coaches and are they better than Sando? He has obviously upset someone big time because the next coach will more than likely be another 4 year plus rookie if he doesn't get sacked in the interim. I really like Bassett but is he prepared to put his whole career on the line for his beloved Adelaide? My gut says probably. :D

No he said he won't be there either. Confirmed that tonite on 5AA. So the pool diminishes seems no one wants to walk in to a guaranteed future sacking. :D

Exactly why would any decent coach want to come to the crows after the way they treated Sando. The Crows management have really shot themselves in the foot.

If this is to happen (which I am quietly hoping for), the key will be who he has in the box with him. We can't take Sando out of the picture and keep persisting with the likes of Bickley and Camporeale IMO.

I wonder how much the impact of the tragic and untimely loss of Dean Bailey was taken into account when the board decided to arsehole Sanderson?

Clearly the loss of an experienced senior assistant and was clearly adored by all that knew him had a massive impact on the coach and coaching group.

added to that Roo, said that the next coach will have all the resources they need and he admitted that Sando didn't have that, but he still gets axed

egotistical maniac is Roo

I hope the Crows pay dearly for this decision, not financially in the payout, but by struggling in the next few years and losing players....

perhaps then, the realisation that Sando wasn't that bad will arrive

The thing I like about him is 2 flags at Norwood and the ability to mentor an heir who gave them their 3rd. Being well liked at crowland at least he should get support. :)

I agree with this MT79, there is a fine line between ruthless and stupid. Hopefully this comes back to bite Adelaide on the arse.

The man was on a hiding to nothing minus a senior assistant this year, coupled with no access to decent draftees to develop.

The fact that every big name senior coach is steering well clear of the job tells me that Adelaide have struck fear into most potential suitors with the way Sando was dismissed.

Past it. I don't get this whole "need an experienced coach" thing .. Sure. If you can get a coach with successful experience (Clarkson, Longmire, Roos) all clubs would, but you also want a coach up with modern processes and practices. No point getting an old previously successful coach or a modern unsuccessful coach (imho).
