Also beard played wing all season and cannot remember him losing his position. Swap him for hardie who he comprehensively beat twice and shared honours once

An interesting alternative to my offer, although just as valid.
If the side is chosen purely on position, I will take your side, however as someone stated before, it is hard to exclude someone who is clearly in the best players for the year (Brent Harris) when one person has performed slightly better at their position (Brendon Niklaus)
A tough call to be made either way

It's hard as you could reason either way for a lot of players. Still all up for debate.

I agree with swamp and rooshooto and players should be picked in playing positions they have played this season and not on reputation or putting midfielders that have been in the best players x amount of times in makeshift positions.
Might be Mallala biased but Joel Montgomerie and Jason Earl surely get picked?
Both have been in the best players numerous times and either could win the mail medal.
I have just checked L.Allmond stats and he has only kicked 14 goals. I assume he is more a midfielder then a goal kicker?
Feely has 49 goals, Solly and Thach 39 goals.
Surely one of them 3 are better suited ahead of Allmond? Given that Feely and Solly are big bodied full forwards and the side picked already has 3 big forwards, Thach may get the nod as a midfielder/forward?

Solly played most the year as a forward swapping into the midfield. He has to be in the team for mine. Was uniteds best player all year.

Hamley 1-39 Home ground advantage probably the difference. The Pies with a couple more back will be better than last week, but will have to take the long road home
Virginia 40+ Nothing against the peckers, but I think Virginia will win easily.

Onsong - have I won this thing yet?? I've been all but last man standing for the last month or so. What's the prize and where can I pick it up from :D

Any thoughts on the candidates for the Umpires Coordinator position next year LC? I hear Doug T is moving on. Of the current group/squad, BJ would have to be in the mix, though some fresh blood with a link to other umpires from around the State may help bolster the umpiring stocks in the league. Doug will definately be missed in the APFL. He's a ripping bloke.

OnSong wrote:Yeah, I guess not all positions will reflect exactly where those players actually play, other than the rucks generally.

Howell rotates forward but not often deep forward, usually off a flank, as most attacking mids do (Duncan, Allmond).

Pym never plays half back, well, rarely, plays there in association and zone teams though, which is also unusual.

Beard in a back pocket is a stretch, he played predominantly wing.

Can't pick Harris at FF but he should be in the team. So I do agree, it's not an exact science, just an indicative graphic I guess.

Ideally you get them as close to their specific position as possible.

My bad, my position choices were based on what I seen when teams vs two wells, beard played back against us!

Clements play much wing? Lachy hasn't.

Really interesting how the wings are picked, out and out wingmen or mids who can play the role

I'd look outside what we have now. Polito would be good. Dunstan I think has family in the district. He'd be good also. Gotta splash some cash though.

You will find that Allmond played majority of his time on ball this year and as a half forward flanker he can play tall or small as he has this year, not all about how many goals you kick, because if you look feely/Solly and thach have kicked majority of there goals against weaker sides!

If you pick from genuine wingman there would be no one as good as brad hardie in that position!

Travis Beard smashed him twice this year. Ricky Thomas a genuine wingman too. Dylan wise played a fair bit on the wing before going half back 2nd half
