You won't find many u21 that have never been in the sanfl system at any time.
I think the crows current model with an academy side for topups instead of getting them from anywhere (ie uni) would work ok.
You're wrong. Sluttery is similar to Callinan as their over 27(?) year old player that doesn't have to come under the $400/game payment. They tried to weasel around the rules at the start of the season and use it for $ommerton as Sluttery is working for PAFC.
And this is my point, they are already trying to cheat the rules, and are, so no matter what checks and balances they put in place it will be cheated and the SANFL have to police it.
As for the crowds dropping if they aren't allowed to play finals, it's not like Adelaide supporters are going and Ports crowds aren't that great either. So big ******* deal! **** them off!
ok, fair enough. not entirely over all of the port rules, they seem confusing. getting both port and the crows operating under exactly the same rules seems to be would eliminate a lot of the concerns here. not all of them obviously, there are people here that are going to be against it no matter what, but it would go some way to making it more even

Seriously.

Top Up Players:
Port and Crows each take 8 1st year out of U18's and 8 2nd year out of u18's as top up players from any of the SANFL clubs. The ones that don't get drafted. They continue to train and play Reserves with their SANFL club when not training or playing with AFL teams. If they don't get drafted, they go back full time with their SANFL clubs after two years.
Crows and Power exit SANFL and play in VFL. All games either as curtain raisers at Adelaide Oval or in Victoria.
Every one is a winner. Of course they can afford it.
Only thing is this would go against AFL policy of turning every State League in to a local development league for AFL.

bennymacca wrote:yeah pretty much. havent followed the port situation as closely but as a crows fan, i would expect anything to be done for the betterment of the AFL team first, then the SANFL team second. I expect them to always try and win, but with the caveat of player management. I think thats what buddha was trying to say too.
now what i do expect is for the SANFL teams to play the season out and not send all of their players off to surgery early. they have given their guarantee that they will do that, but I guess we will have to see whether that happens or not.

If you can 'catch' the AFL reserves side on certain weekends due to their injury list, upcoming AFL fixtures, AFL current ladder postition etc etc you can almost get a 3-4 advantage on other sides.

Some of them were so badly mismanaged for a period of time they saw the money on offer as compensation enough to make the changes they voted for.
I can only assume the supporters of the 6 clubs who voted yes are as vocal to their club managment as they are to supporters of the Magpies?
Have you taken the opportunity to call your boards, CEO's and management "cheating ****", or do you save those sorts of heroics for the supporters who pay their hard earned to simply go along and support their team?
I'd imagine half the spinless jelly fish who have abused Magpie fans over the course of this year wouldn't have the level of intelligence required to obtain memberships, vote at the AGM's or indeed have gone out of their way to make their boards day at the football as uncomfortable as they have for black and white supporters.

Booney, you make it sound like Power reserve supporters are innocent of dishing out any abuse at games this year, anyone who has been to watch their team play the Power reserves would know very well it's not the case.

On Saturday at the Bay, I was in the Cricketer's Club and had a few, so rounded a few up on the balcony to sing a horribly out of tune and very loud rendition of A Tiger For Me late in the last quarter.
Got the usual reaction from the Port crowd about being spooners and so we might have suggested they look up at the scoreboard. And so on it went.
All had a laugh and no-one got hurt. One Port bloke came up to the balcony and wanted to shake hands, which we gratefully obliged.
I don't understand why they would follow Port and likewise they don't get why we support the Bays.
That's a big part of why I still go to the footy.
