We had a friendly today against Hellas Verona. Clarets won 3-1 after going behind. All the goals were scored in the 2nd half.
Luca Toni played for Verona, and even at 37 still looked a class act if a little slower.
Programme said he finished 2nd top scorer in Serie A last year despite only playing about half a season.
Good test this week after drawing 2-2 with Spanish premier league outfit Celta Vigo

Shocking odds

My tips for relegation would be QPR certainties, Southampton lost way too many and Swansea.
There's always one newly promoted side, one unexpected side that looked like they had established themselves and one basket case that gets relegated. :D

lol Diaby is injured again. Could be out for a month due to a hip injury.

Time to get rid of him. He has played a maximum of 15 games over the past 7 years with us. Not a good return. Time to sell and move on

Ollie will be having a cheeky smile. All the same reasons that he left for.
Wouldn't think it was a gig for Moyes

Neil Lennon's name in the frame though

As a life long supporter, just when things were looking up for Crystal Palace they come along and show just what a bunch of unprofessional people run the club. I wonder how the new signings, especially Kelly from Liverpool, are feeling now Tony Pulis has walked out of the club on the eve of the start of the season. It would appear that the possible move of Wilfried Zaha back to the club is the catalyst as Parish wanted him but Pulis didn't. Seems strange that on Tuesday Parish was saying basically it's the managers call on who he wants to transfer to the club but barely two days later that is supposed to be the reason Pulis left. Could only happen in South London.

Given the great work Tony Pulis did you'd have thought the club would have backed his plans to the hilt.

Still managers come and go and there are a few good candidates to replace him e.g. Malky Mackay, Steve Clarke and David Moyes.

One thing I especially enjoy about the start of a football season is looking at the league table and seeing Villa in second spot. :)

Tony Popovic has been mentioned as well. Red an article about it and the players Pulis wantes but missed out on due to the board were Caulker, Siguarson (spelling is wrong) and Michu. All those signings would of improved Palace

With this glorious day almost upon us I thought I'd throw out a few predictions and see how I went.

Top 4 (in order)
Chelsea
City
Liverpool
Arsenal

Relegated
Burnley (Sorry JTC happy to be wrong on this if it's to see Arry **** up again)
West Brom
Villa

Best team outside the top 7:
Stoke

Golden Boot:
Think RVP and Aguero will struggle to keep fit long enough to challenge and hoping the Chavs have forgotten how to feed a forward a Costa is a flop so I'll plump for Sturridge (no bias at all here)

Best signing:
Bojan Krkic - purely and simply for the first time he nets and all the headlines scream Mr. Bojan-goals

Worst signing:
Joe Cole - seriously what do Villa hope to get out of him in the 3 games he's fit for?

2nd Manager out the door
Would have loved to have known the odds on Pulis being first out but Paul Lambert looks to be on borrowed time.

League Cup:
Stoke

FA Cup:
Arsenal - I'm assuming they will get all the home games again this year.

Champions League:
Real Madrid - pretty sure back to back hasn't been done but I think Barca and Atletico will slip a bit this year giving them an easier campaign domestically.

Europa:
Who ******* cares.

These will or won't be revisited later in the year depending on how close I think I am.
