We aren't anywhere near the level of Port in 2007. People look at that Granny and say Port weren't that good but they were a good side. What you are seeing is the result of the expanded competition. A thin talent pool with a team that has a core of seasoned veterans with some kids with potential playing inconsistent football temporarily sitting in second spot.

Port 2007 would beat us by ten goals.

Interesting statistic shown on Talking Footy last night.

Geelong have been involved in 7 games decided by under 12 points in 2014. They are 7-0.

Not only the sign of a good side under pressure, but a fair bit of luck on their side too!

Last chance for Mitch Brown this weekend. I reckon he has a bit of ability but he can't string together a run of games at league level for the Cats. Kersten and Walker haven't starred so if Brown can put in a good shift against the Lions he could partner Tommy in the finals. If he can't hold his spot over Walker then Brown is finished at Geelong.

This would be a shame because I reckon he can play. I wouldn't rule out a swap with Waite from Carlton. Could be a win-win for all involved. Waite wouldn't be a walk up either with Vardy to hopefully return next year. Still got the competition for spots, still have Walker and Kersten waiting in the wings. Personally, I'd keep Brown over Walker but you sense that patience is running low with Brown at Catland.

Frawley hasn't played that well in recent weeks but he could slot into our back six and Harry Taylor could go up forward and partner Tommy. Not a bad get for mine.

Going to a contending club on a 5 year deal he would probably take the same money he was on at melb.

Bringing Frawley in might enable Harry Taylor to go up front a little more, which should add some depth to the geelong forward line

Just read my Inside Football and Geelong might as well not bother showing up tomorrow night - she's all done we are no chance. Might as well rest seventeen players so we can clean up Essendon or North next week. Tomorrow we will find out if Chris Scott is the smartest operator in the business or if our domination over the Hawks (and the finals) is over.

Massive game and I'm looking forward to finding out which way things turn out. But when I look at how the Dogs, Saints and Pies are going it will be hard for me to be too disappointed. The Cats are doing things right these days and even our losing seasons seem to have us heading in the right direction. Not confident, but hopefull.

GO CATS.

Looking at where Melbourne have also been, it would seem in the last 7 years even when Geelong have had a "poor" season, it still wasnt bad. I think Geelong will be fine, anything can happen in finals.
