He was in perfect position to see the foul on Troisi, could have had a free kick within shooting distance!!

Brave effort as previously mentioned, we were destroyed in the opening half hour and it looked like it would be a flogging. We were unlucky not to grab a second.

Great game by Leckie, it will be interesting to see who snaps him up after the World Cup.

I thought it was a great game.

Lets face it.

We are not in their league.

The manager said it all. " we gave them far too much respect"

We are there, but we need a little luck on the world stage.

Could not fault the ref.

I saw a little faking by some players.

but the ref was above it.

We are simply not good enough. We played some great patches and some rubbish patches. Team selection was ordinary and the coach is simply no good.
Ive said since day 1 we will never be a success with a Aussie coach who has no experience in the big leagues, he sat on his hands and let the game get away from us in that final 15 minutes. His love of that plodder Milligan beggars belief, he is slow in the A-League and just a dumb footballer.
Definately not happy with a loss especially against a Chile side with a worse defence than us, we simply didnt attack them enough. Job is always harder with the refs against you aswell though

1st 20 mins was like watching an FA Cup tie between AFC Wimbledon & Newcastle United.
Australia's defence was absolute shite - the Keeper was shocking.
2 - nil down after 16 mins & should've been more - they were clearly overawed by the occasion.
13 players in our squad have played less than 10 games for the country.

Then they started to settle down, began to pass the ball around & began hitting Chile on the counter.
The goal by Cahill was his usually sublime heading effort.
Lecke played his best game in the shirt - possibly best of his Senior Career IMHO
Breesh was very good - class.

I agree that the manager could've made a move earlier in the 2nd half - particularly when we were on top of their defence.
But they weren't belted like the previous World Cup opener & after all, they are ranked 56 in the World, Chile 15th.
Am glad they weren't disgraced, despite the terrible start.

Holland were awesome in the 'early' game - WOW
Roben is a star & van Persie's header was sensational
Stephen Trigg & Rob Chapman are SA Football Patriots

I think chile has the longest anthem carey. It seems to finish and they continue singing for about another minute then its over. You can have a coffee, and an afternoon nap during it, then come back and its still going

Good to see this is not a bore fest between the poms and wogs

I only noticed the passion of its supporters singing their anthem.

How wonderful.

Rooney sill yet to score in a world cup for England at the time of this post, funny how life is. ...

Learn to laugh.

Italy to win in 2014....
