Crows 2014

Talk on the national game

I'm a cam fan. We were having a chat to Kenny Mcgregor at the bays match, he said our list is nowhere near as good as it was talked up to be, listed a few players that weren't up to it. The one thing he said that really stands out is that we have too many jarryd Lyons type players. I reckon he is right, that's the problem with having the crouch boys, wrighty and grigg is that they aren't quick so when you add Lyons, Reilly, brown, poprlyzia etc to the team we become too slow on the inside and outside. I was surprised that he said Cameron will struggle to cut the mustard as he can't play any other position, and therefore will be behind betts for the attacking small fwd. Problem with playing both is you lose a mid rotation unless betts can go mid. That's why port have become so good, westhoff, wingard, gray, monfries, and White can all play fwd and mid without compromising team speed.

i think its more a case of the fact that he was selected in the 2011 draft, so this is his third year on our list, and he still hasnt played a game. This has to be the last year for him, so at least give him a couple of games to see if he can cut it.

With regards to grigg, he was injured a bit earlier in the season and doesnt look 100% match fit imo. They are still giving him the sub roles and he hasnt really played a full game. Hopefully after the bye he is raring to go

I have been a big supporter of CEY and still don't understand why he hasn't been used, but a few games of his I have seen recently he looks disinterested at times (a page or two back about the Renouf chase I spoke about). I think people get far to caught up in the hype and at one point I heard someone compare him to Adam Goodes (which is ridiculous).

In saying that, I think he needs to be given a go because he has been on the list for 3 years and if not move him on. This years draft/ trade period we need to focus on nothing but some pace!

FWIW I think Grigg is a 200 game player only 21 and already a great user of the ball and has the cool head under pressure...Big Fan of his.

Cameron was given a bath by Tom Logan in Clare and although Tommy is an experienced campaigner a young flashy kid really should have too much speed for Tommy to deal with.

Cameron had 9 touches and a goal.If that's the type of form that earns a promotion off the rookie list, Adelaide are going beeeautifully.

As for CEY, I've not seen him dominate a game like he looks like he should. Perfect build, good pace, good hands, but all in very small patches. He spent some of 2013 languishing in the WWT reserves, if that's how his form was after 3 years on an AFL list I wouldn't even bother giving him a go.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Totally agree.

It wasn't that long ago that Ports midfield was also given the same criticism, that it was a bit one paced, and then they went and got white and polec and it has totally changed the dynamic.

White has been huge for Port this year. It was only going to work in the good for Port because they were relying (correct me if i am wrong) on the pace of Boak, while he isn't a plodder he isn't a line breaking runner like White/ Polec.

Unless the AA news got it wrong they said he was promoted from the rookie list yesterday which is quite possible.

well i certainly thought booney was talking about cameron ellis yolman, not charlie cameron, given thats who we were talking about above.

CEY has been on the senior list all year, Charlie Cameron got upgraded.

sorry for the mixup

Pretty clear Booney was talking about Cameron in the 1st 2 paragraphs and Ellis yelman in the 3rd.
