Which one of those was the "Beware The Dogs Are Coming" song?

Pride of the Plains, written by 'Swanny' IIRC.

Taken from the CDFC Forum

We're the pride of the plains,
We're the red, white and blue,
We're the pride of the plains,
And we're coming to get you...

*** NOT SURE ON THIS LINE ***
*** AND THIS ONE AS WELL ***
We'll never give up
'Til we win that cup
And we're not far off now...

Beware the dogs are comin',
We're on the prowl,
Beware the dogs are comin',
We're not far off now,
Beware the dogs are comin',
Red, white and blue,
Beware the dogs are comin',
They're coming, they're coming to get to you...

Still prefer "Pride of the Plains". It was/is a great anthemic song, would love the club to bring it back as the club song! GO u Dogs! 8)

yeah my greatest memory as a 5-10yo was going to the SANFL with my nan and grandad and after a rare Centrals win belting out the only lines of the song i knew 'beware the dogs are coming' 'red white and blue' from the ground, to the bowling club carpark and then all the way home to Gawler.

Is there a website where we can download a definitve version of the these songs?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Ha, I remember I'd have the chorus stuck in my head for hours after .. Was a big Swanny fan too back in those days.

Now I have the same problem with the North club song, it's too catchy.

North song is tops, especially after they jazzed it up a couple of years ago. No mention in the thread to date of 'Come on ya peckers' to the tune of the woody woodpecker song. We used to hear it at the start of games at Woodville, performed by the band of the 4th military district, but rarely after the game. We also had the advantage of the simultaneous performance of the 'peckerettes', another first for Woodville. I have a sister who was a foundation peckerette and a brother a foundation Woodville mini-leaguer, green and gold royalty really. I also have a 45 rpm record at home with the peckers song on one side and the history of Woodville football club, narrated by Jim Chamings, on the other side. Needless to say, 2 minutes probably summed it up at that stage.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Great to have the links to the old songs...

... no copy of the Sturt version of the Carlton song, we sang that for years!

I think I actually prefer that to the Grand Old Flag version.

Pretty sure Fos Williams appropriated it after hearing South players sing it.

Of course, they both rip-off the "Notre Dame Victory March."

Port sung a "War Cry" before that...

Does anyone happen to know what this "War Cry" was?
