If you mean "media player" I have 2 Patriot Box Office media players, one in lounge other in bedroom and cannot fault them, play anything. Also have an original Popcornhour (A100). Much prefer the PBO.

Work out where you want to :

- play media
- store media

You can have it all in one place but that restricts where you can play it.

You could have a NAS somewhere, with all your media, and then a device to play that in any room via wireless or cable.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

Yep, that's what we do with the WDTV Live. All media sits on NAS, and until we can afford more of them the WDTV Live is pretty easy to unplug from one TV to the next (power cord and HDMI cable only). Have plugged a wifi dongle into it for now, but will run network cables near every TV antenna point one day to make that more reliable as well (6 year old wifi modem probably doesn't help on that front).

I already had a 1TB external hard drive, so I bought a Netgear NTV550. It's a "plug and play" job... got it working within 20 seconds of unwrapping it. Cost about 220, worth every cent.
